Giada De Laurentiis Shows Jimmy Fallon How to Make Her Divisive Chocolate Pasta Dish
"I don't know if this is going to be good, Giada. I gotta be honest," The Tonight Show Host said as she mixed it up with her bare hands.
When Giada De Laurentiis stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 3, the celebrity chef and Super-Italian author's appearance turned into a cooking demonstration when she prepared her viral "Chocolate Pasta" recipe, which divided the internet when she showcased it on Instagram back in December 2024. And she mixed it together for Jimmy Fallon with her bare hands, no less.
As Fallon explained, the longtime Food Network star has been eating the dish since she was a kid — and De Laurentiis simply had to whip out a tray with ingredients for the sweet treat, to prove how actually good it is.

"Pasta is a blank canvas, much like a potato. Any starch, right? So you could put this on a potato," she explained. "You could put it on bread, which people do all the time, right? So why wouldn't you put it on noodles?"
"I don't know if this is going to be good, Giada. I gotta be honest," Fallon fearfully remarked.
De Laurentiis poured melted chocolate into the bowl of cooked noodles — but the noodles were clumped together. So the chef decided to get her hands dirty, manually mixing the chocolate into the pasta.
"I need to make it happen because you're never going to believe me if I don't," she said, as Fallon laughed, "You're unbelievable."
"After a long day, if I've had a really bad day, this is sort of the comfort food now," De Laurentiis shared, as the cooking demonstration got messier and messier.
Once De Laurentiis was finished mixing the chocolate and noodles — and Fallon helped by shaving some more chocolate on top — the two each took noodles in their hands, and cheered as they tasted the divisive dish.
"It's actually delicious. I love it! It's fantastic," admitted a surprised Fallon. The Tonight Show Host was brave enough to try De Laurentiis' chocolate pasta; would you eat it?

Giada De Laurentiis' chocolate pasta recipe divided the internet
In an Instagram video De Laurentiis posted in December 2024, the cookbook author walked viewers through how to make her "Chocolate Pasta" recipe — and the reactions were mixed, to say the least.
"A bowl of pasta, topped with a little chocolate. Honestly, nothing is more comforting and more of a hug," De Laurentiis said in the clip, as she prepared the dish. "Listen, it's not the sexiest of dishes, but it's dang good!"
"You know, this started when I was a kid. My mom used to do it with Nutella or chocolate chips. I'm also the kid who had chocolate sandwiches for breakfast, so I don't think it's that weird," she continued, tasting her chocolate concoction. "Life is so good. I challenge you guys to try it sometime."
