Reba McEntire Reveals the “Seriously Addictive” Food Rex Linn Always Wants in the House

The Happy's Place star would make them for friends until her boyfriend asked her to quit giving them away.

Reba McEntire’s decadent beer cheese recipe is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser at any party, and her spicy chunky chili is the epitome of comfort food. But her boyfriend and Happy’s Place co-star Rex Linn is particularly fond of one of her sweeter recipes that the Queen of Country called “seriously addictive.”

How to Watch

Watch Happy’s Place Fridays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

McEntire and Linn, who went public with their relationship in October 2020, are well aware of each other’s favorite foods. Heck, McEntire’s love of tater tots inspired their sweet nicknames for each other. Linn also told NBC Insider that McEntire will put ketchup on just about anything.

Rex Linn is obsessed with Reba McEntire’s chocolate chip shortbread cookie recipe

The “I’m a Survivor” singer has dozens of recipes that are easy to obsess over, but Linn is really a fan of McEntire’s “Salted Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookies,” featured in her Not That Fancy cookbook.

The country star’s recipe calls for classic chocolate chip cookie ingredients — butter, flour, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips. But because they’re shortbread cookies, her recipe does not include eggs or baking soda. McEntire also adds an extra layer of flavor by sprinkling flaky sea salt on top.

“They’re seriously addictive,” McEntire told People about her cookie recipe. “And the key is the flaky salt on top.”

McEntire’s recipe also notes that the cookie dough should be chilled in the refrigerator for at least two hours before baking, which is a critical step for the best cookie texture and deeper flavors.

“I used to offer these cookies to my friends until my boyfriend Rex said, ‘Would you please quit giving those away? They’re way too good!’” McEntire told People.

You can find McEntire’s full recipe for Salted Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookies in her cookbook, Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots.

Reba McEntire loves “all cookies”

The Voice Coach alum has described her Salted Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookie recipe as one of her “favorites” for the holidays, along with her Cowboy Chili. And out of all desserts, McEntire would go for the cookie plate.

“Cookies, cake, or pie? Me? Cookies,” McEntire said during a Q&A with CMT. “I like all cookies, if you’re keeping notes.” Duly noted!
