Reba McEntire Looks So Different with Her Hair Completely Gelled Back Like Elvis
Whether she's teasing her hair high as the sky or slicking it back, the Queen of Country always looks iconic.
From big voluminous ‘80s perms to short spunky bobs in the ‘90s, Reba McEntire has worn her signature red hair in a variety of styles over the years. But there’s perhaps one style that looks so different from the rest that you’ll probably have to do a double-take.
In a photo McEntire shared on social media, the Queen of Country star has her hair completely gelled back with one styled tendril laying on her forehead. She’s also wearing a paisley dress coat in the photo, along with a black vest underneath. See the amazing photo here.
“Felt cute,” McEntire wrote on Instagram at the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020. “Might gel my hair and stare out the window while I wait for my grocery delivery. IDK.”
The Happy’s Place star looked iconic as aways, and her fans could not have agreed more. “Love it,” one fan commented on the photo. “You always look good in any hairstyle.”
“WHAT A QUEEN!” one fan wrote, while another asked for an autographed copy of the photo. Another fan thought she was channeling “a little Elvis too” with the hairstyle.

Reba McEntire's hair tips
While the slicked-back look is not one of her most famous styles we’ve seen, The Voice Coach alum did share a few tips to create one of her “signature looks” from decades ago. “Pull out your comb and get to teasing,” the “Fancy” singer captioned a hair tutorial video for her iconic ‘80s curls on TikTok, adding in the video that you’ll want to apply a “generous amount of mousse” and use “mega-hold” hairspray.
McEntire has described her short pixie cut hair as one of her favorite styles. “It was freedom. I loved it. It was in ’96 or ’97 when I cut my hair off, and it was freeing,” she told Glamour, adding that she got some pushback about the look. “I had to talk to my management and my stylist who did my hair, because it took almost a year for me to talk them into letting me cut my hair. They told me my hair was my image. ‘You got your big hair all jacked up to Jesus. You can’t cut your hair off.’ And I said, ‘Well, it’ll give you something else to talk about.’ And they said, ‘Oh, okay. That’s an idea.’ So we did.”
