Keke Palmer Has a Controversial Opinion About How You Eat Spaghetti

Is spaghetti a side dish or a main course? Keke Palmer has thoughts!

By Christopher Rosa

If you're visiting the Midwest, Keke Palmer wants you to know two things: (1) Order a frittata at breakfast, and (2) Spaghetti is a side dish — not a main course.

How to Watch

Palmer was born in Harvey, Illinois, and in an interview with Yahoo!she talked about how her upbringing has influenced her take on spaghetti. It's not the star of the show, according to the Password Host, but a supporting character for something even tastier.

"In my household spaghetti was a side dish," she told the outlet. "So like, we had spaghetti and catfish a lot."

As for breakfast, Palmer said, "Maybe that's the Midwestern in me, [but] I've always been into quiches, frittatas ... any variety of egg, honey, I'm there for it."

A frittata made by Palmer's father, Larry, no doubt hit extra hard, as she told Yahoo!, "My dad, he would always cook a breakfast before we had our school tests, you know, they do the big testing season. Because they would say, 'Hey! Make sure your kid has a really good breakfast the morning of,' he would make us a big breakfast: pancakes, bacon, eggs, the whole nine. So I always remember that being a fun tradition."

Keke Palmer's Screen Actors Guild Award dress has an iconic history

Speaking of tradition, Palmer honored a long-held red carpet practice at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, February 23: wearing vintage. For the occasion, she rocked a Chanel dress that actress Jamie Lee Curtis wore to an event 40 years prior:

Curtis gave the look her seal of approval, writing on Instagram, "I'm thrilled to be anywhere near @keke in style and grace and talent!"

Indeed, Palmer is both stylish and talented. In early 2024, she made history by being the first Black woman to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Game Show

“Wow. That is so exciting thank you so much. I’m really just so thankful, I’m almost speechless. I want to thank the people who allowed this to happen, thank you to Jimmy Fallon, thank to NBC,” Palmer said while accepting her award, per Deadline.

“In a historic year for game shows at the Emmy Awards, we couldn’t be prouder of Keke Palmer’s Outstanding Host win. She and Jimmy Fallon are a winning duo and have made the latest iteration of Password an undeniable hit,” NBCUniversal Entertainment Unscripted Programming EVP Corie Henson also told the outlet.
