Mike Myers & Nicole Kidman Perfectly Played 6-Year-Old Kids in This Classic SNL Sketch

"I'm gonna talk like a robot. I'm a robot, I'm talking like a robot!"

By Christopher Rudolph

Nicole Kidman starred in 2024's Babygirl — but in a 1993 episode of Saturday Night Live she actually played a baby girl.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

When the Oscar-winning actress hosted SNL on November 20, 1993, Kidman quite convincingly played a six year old in the adorable "Phillip the Hyper Hypo and Grace" sketch with cast member Mike Myers.

"Phillip the Hyper Hypo and Grace" takes place on a playground, where Phillip (Myers) — an overactive six-year-old whose mother makes him wear a helmet and harness — is tied to a jungle gym. But that doesn't stop him from repeatedly trying to run and break free.

Sitting in front of the colorful structure is another six-year-old, the Australian Grace (Kidman), wearing a dress and pigtails, and playing with her dolls. The two start talking to each other — as kids do on a playground — and Phillip explains why he is forced to wear his protective play gear.

"I'm hypoglycemic and hyperactive. I'm a hyper hypo, that's why I wear a helmet. My mother's a little overprotective," he tells Grace. Their interaction has a range of emotions, from Phillip admitting to his new pal that he loves her to the two quickly becoming angry at one another — before boomeranging back to being silly again.

After the two do impressions of Phillip's dog, Phillip tells her, "I love you again."

"I know," says Grace with a smile, as she continues to play with her dolls. She offers Phillip some of her chocolate bar, but he tells her, "I'm not supposed to eat sugar." It doesn't take much convincing, as Phillip snatches the candy from her, inhaling the chocolate.

At one point, Kidman's Grace says with perfect little-kid delivery, "I'm gonna talk like a robot. I'm a robot, I'm talking like a robot!"

Fueled by sugar, Philip finally succeeds in breaking free from his playground prison as he uses superhuman strength to lift the jungle gym from the ground, running down the street, with chocolate smeared across his face, as the jungle gym drags behind him.

Both Kidman and Myers were fully committed in the sketch, all but becoming a pair of kindergartners — watch "Philip the Hyper Hypo and Grace" from Season 19 above, and stream all 50 seasons of SNL on Peacock anytime.

Mike Myers called Nicole Kidman "funny, fearless, and game" at her 2024 AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony

In June 2024, Kidman received the AFI Life Achievement Award. Mike Myers paid tribute to the beloved actress during the ceremony — even showing a clip from their SNL sketch together.

"I was on Saturday Night Live for six seasons and I worked with over 100 different hosts. And what I saw is that nobody, nobody was more dedicated to her craft than Nicole Kidman," Myers recalled before he shared a clip from "Phillip the Hyper Hypo and Grace."

"She's funny, she's fearless, and she's game. And I think that's what I admired most about you. Nicole, it was an honor to share that tiny, tiny moment in time. And I'm proud to say that I'm very proud to be here tonight to say congratulations."
