The SNL Cast Still Recovering Post-Anniversary in Shane Gillis's New Promo

The returning Host finds the Season 50 cast trying to rally after the epic February celebrations.

By Christopher Rudolph

SNL50: The Anniversary Special was a night for the history books — and as the lore from SNL40 has long taught us, what often follows a momentous night like that is an equally-epic hangover. And in a new promo for Saturday Night Live's March 1 episode hosted by Shane Gillis, the cast is definitely still feeling it.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

In the video, cast member Ashley Padilla shows Gillis around the SNL offices, asking him, "So, how are you feeling? Are you excited to host?"

"Yeah. I'm excited," Gillis says apprehensively. "I'm just worried everyone's gonna be hungover still from the 50th."

"What makes you say that?" asks Padilla. The comedian stops and tells her, "That, for one thing," and gestures over to a couch where Michael Longfellow is snoring while passed out in a bathrobe.

"Also, Mikey's wearing Sarah's clothes," Gillis continues, as Mikey Day walks in wearing one of Sarah Sherman's signature bright and colorful ensembles — complete with a piano keys tie.

"Um, what?! I always dress like this," Day says, trying to pass off his confusing fashion choices. The hangover horrors persist as Gillis points over to the Please Don't Destroy boys, who are sitting in a corner still in their tuxes — so drained that they don't even know which one of them is Ben Marshall.

"Have you considered that maybe we're all Ben?" the real Marshall tells Martin Herlihy and John Higgins.

"No. You're Alvin, and they're the Chipmunks," Gillis tells them with a laugh, with Higgins rallying long enough to roast the comedian, saying "Yeah, nice one, Louis C-minus."

"That's funny. I laughed at that. I must be a teenage girl if I thought you were funny," retorts Gillis. Are we sensing another Please Don't Destroy read-off?

Padilla might be Gillis' tour guide around the SNL offices, but even she's not immune from the hangover, as evident when a nurse hooks her up to an IV drip to rehydrate her after the long night.

The partygoers are plagued by their poor decisions — but it might be Emil Wakim who made the worst one.

"Hey, do you guys know a good tattoo-removal guy? I think I made a mistake," says Wakim as he walks up to Padilla and Gillis, revealing a tattoo of SNL creator Lorne Michaels on his neck. "I thought he would like it!"
