The Stranger Things Kids Were Babies in This Dance Battle with Jimmy Fallon

The actors showed off their Hawkins happy feet in this 2017 moment from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The kids from Stranger Things have faced off against mighty foes like the Demogorgon and the villainous Vecna — but was their fiercest fight this Dance Battle on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon?

How to Watch

Back in November 2017, four of the young Stranger Things cast —Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, and Caleb McLaughlin — appeared on The Tonight Show together to celebrate Season 2 of their hit Netflix series.

They weren't there just to chat with Jimmy Fallon: He also had them show off their Hawkins happy feet in a Stranger Things-themed Dance Battle.

Wolfhard was up first, hitting the Dance Move generator. He landed on "toastin' waffles" (Eggos being a favorite food of Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven on the show, of course). With beats provided by The Roots, Wolfhard acted out waking up, throwing waffles in a toaster, and even adding Macarena moves during his breakfast breakdown.

Matarazzo was up next, tasked with acting out "flashlight with a mind of its own" — which included him being pulled by a flashlight, and spinning around the stage. Schnapp followed, and his dance move was "trying to fix an '80s TV." This prompted Fallon to ask him, "Do you know what a television looked like in the '80s?" It was a big box, and it was wooden..."

"This is so sad, I really feel old," Fallon joked after he told Schnapp "to fix it, you had to bang it." The actor took Fallon's advice, frantically hitting and kicking the imaginary TV in front of him.

McLaughlin was the last to go, showing off breakdancing moves as he tried to "break through the goo" of the Upside Down.

"You're all clearly amazing dancers," Fallon told the foursome. "Why even compete against each other when we can do one more dance together?" He revealing that he'd be joining them for the final dance move: "The Upside Get-Down."

The Tonight Show Host huddled with the Hawkins hive as they planned out their group move. The Roots gave them Devo-esque music, and Fallon ran up to the camera to flip it over — turning the dancers on their heads.

Performing "upside down," Fallon and the kids served up synchronized '80s Breakfast Club moves, shuffling back and forth across the stage, eventually ending with them all shredding invisible electric guitars.

Their Dance Battle is impressive, but what's even more remarkable is how young the actors look. Especially compared with the recent Season 5 photos Netflix shared in December 2024, showing just how much they cast has grown in the nine years since Stranger Things first premiered.
