Meet Martha Stewart’s Teenaged Grandchildren, Jude and Truman
The Yes Chef! co-host demands constant improvement on her new competition series, but at home, she’s a doting grandmother.

Leave it to Martha Stewart to put a brand new spin on a cooking competition. In the new NBC series Yes, Chef!, the doyenne of domesticity joins forces with another legend, José Andrés of World Central Kitchen fame. Starting on April 28, the two co-hosts will mentor 12 out-of-control chefs, helping them overcome their hot tempers and big egos as they vie for a $250,000 prize.
When not reinventing cooking shows or presiding over unruly chefs, the self-made billionaire devotes her free time to her grandchildren. Martha’s only daughter, Alexis, has been candid about her motherhood journey, having two children via surrogate following five years of IVF treatment. Though the mother and daughter have had their ups and downs through the years, Alexis credited Martha on The Oprah Winfrey Show with providing support during that difficult time, and it seems like their bond has only gotten stronger since.
Martha Stewart, Grandmother Extraordinaire
With the arrival of Jude Stewart in 2011 and Truman Stewart in 2012, the media mogul quickly embraced the role of “doting grandmother,” and it’s fair to say she’s a downright softie. She travels the world with Truman and Jude — most recently to Namibia — hosts sleepovers, and created many annual traditions with the kids, including pumpkin picking, apple picking, and cider making according to People. Would you expect anything less?
Grandchildren “are much more fun than children,” she told Al Roker in a TODAY appearance, adding “I want to take the kids to places that I’ve never been so we can experience the oohs and the ahhs together.”
All about Jude Stewart
Born on March 8, 2011, Jude Stewart, 14, and Martha are by all accounts extremely close. From the get-go, Martha sang her praises, calling Jude a “genius” when she was just three years old. “[She’s] speaking Spanish and English [and] she’s going into Mandarin now,” Martha raved to People. “She’s a linguist … She’s an actor and a dancer and a musician, [too.]”
It’s clear the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! The duo are often dubbed “lookalikes” when they step out together to see their favorite shows on Broadway or attend holiday concerts. The similarities don’t end there. For Martha’s 82nd birthday, Jude created an impeccable poster-sized birthday card decorated with origami butterflies. They also share an interest in health and wellness. In 2023, she posted a video of Jude, then 12, leading a yoga class at Skylands, Stewart's Sea Harbor estate in Maine, People reported.
All about Truman Stewart
March must be a busy time for the Stewart family. Truman was born a year after his sister on March 6, 2012, two days before her birthday. Over the years, Martha and Alexis have hosted many impossibly cute joint birthday parties for the kids, including one themed to the children’s book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
“We found many ways to use the coconut tree, alphabet letters, and the bright colors of the book throughout our menu and the décor,” Martha wrote on her blog in 2014.
“[He] is very good in Spanish — very fluent,” she told People of her 2-year-old grandson at the time. “And he likes trucks. He can identify pretty much any car on the road.”
The brood has spent many holidays and happy times on her farm in upstate New York, including one Mother’s Day when she toted Truman on her shoulders through the garden. In her nostalgic post, she wrote, “It’s hard to believe that the kids are now 9 and 10 and way too tall and heavy to carry on our shoulders. They’ve added so much joy to our lives and greatly enriched our every day.”
Now that the days of piggyback rides are over, Martha is finding new ways to bond with Truman. In 2021, she shared a post on Instagram showing that she taught Truman archery on her farm, and in 2024, the two were spotted courtside at a New York Knicks Game at Madison Square Garden.
As for their cooking skills, Martha revealed to Business Insider that her grandchildren are both pescatarians (Alexis is a vegetarian) and have a penchant for sushi, pho, or "anything Japanese." She said Jude is the budding cook in the family, while Truman “is more interested in chopping.”
Yes, Chef! premieres on NBC on Monday, April 28, at 10/9c following The Voice.
