Mel B Said She and Heidi Klum Had Secret “Pact” Not to Take Each Other’s Acts
Mel B revealed she and Heidi tried to let their friendship give them an advantage on AGT: Fantasy League, but competition got the better of them.
Hearing the behind-the-scenes maneuvering among our favorite Acts and Judges on America’s Got Talent is always intriguing. From what Mel B recently divulged to NBC Insider, AGT: Fantasy League, which has the Judges vying for a winning Dream Team, does not disappoint. It even tested the Judge's legendary bond with good friend, Heidi Klum.
Sparks have been flying (and cups of water) between Mel B and Simon Cowell. And the gloves are off between Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum. But it’s been relatively smooth between Klum and Mel B. While we’re not saying this is a Battle of the Sexes, the guys had better keep an eye out.

When we recently chatted with Mel B, she revealed that she and Heidi struck up a shrewd alliance to not take each other’s Acts before the show began. In the world of Fantasy League, a Golden Buzzer allows a Judge to take an Act from another for their own Dream Team.
The two are longtime besties, recently giggling like teenagers and singing along to Khia’s (very NSFW) song “My Neck, My Back” during a lively “slumber party.” With these two mentors in cahoots, the sky’s the limit on the havoc they could have created at the Judge’s table — if they stuck to the agreement.
“Well, I thought that me and Heidi made a bit of a pact. Like don’t you steal mine, and I won’t steal yours,” the former Spice Girl told NBC Insider. But the singer admitted it’s a challenge to stick with it in the heat of the moment, and after witnessing one jaw-dropping act after another, it’s hard not to get swept up in the competition.
That was evident in the Semifinals of AGT: Fantasy League when Mel B felt moved by Aidan Bryant's performance that she gave him a Golden Buzzer, sending him through to the final round of competition, taking him for her Dream Team from Klum and effectively ending any alliance they had as friends.
“Something happens to you when they go live, and you’ve got that Golden Buzzer, you’re like, haha-ha!," Mel B said with a lighthearted evil laugh. "It’s fun, it’s a lot of fun, it’s like being a big kid."
As for being the first to break her "pact" with Klum, Mel B explained that all is fair in the competition that is AGT: Fantasy League.
“At the end of the day, it’s anybody’s game because anything can happen,” she stated.
And where does Heidi stand now that the competition is in full swing? Judging by a recent post on her Instagram, any alliance is in the rearview mirror. She captioned an adorable, chummy photo of her and Mel B on the set of Fantasy League: “We may look cute now but in 5 minutes IT’S ON. Watch out for my dream team.”
With 40 incredible performances — some of the most dangerous the Judges have ever seen — there’s never a dull moment on AGT: Fantasy League. And the four mentors are piling drama on top of intrigue. However, as Mel B noted in her recent interview, that's the beauty of the AGT: Fantasy League format.
“But this is why the show is so interesting this time with the Fantasy League element. It's kind of put a bit more spice [into] it. And it's a proper rollercoaster ride,” said Mel B.
“This is the exciting bit because it's also a competition going on, on stage between the contestants. But there's also a competition going on between us four, and it can get pretty heated. And none of us hold back because we want to win,” she added, clearly relishing the show’s Golden Buzzer twist. “We want one of our Acts to win, at least. Yeah, or to get through.”
Tune in every Monday at 8/7c on NBC to watch AGT: Fantasy League. If you can’t watch the show live, new episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
