The Special Reason Mel B's Getting Married in the Same Church as Princess Diana
The America's Got Talent: Fantasy League Judge is more than honored by the connection.
Mel B is tying the knot in the best way!
When the America's Got Talent: Fantasy League Judge was on TODAY on January 7, she gave some details about her upcoming wedding to her fiancé, hairstylist Rory McPhee. More specifically, she disclosed that the ceremony will take place at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, where Princess Diana wed Prince Charles in 1981.
"Cause I have an MBE [Member of the Order of the British Empire]," she explained to Hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. "So I got an MBE for all my charity work that I’ve been doing," she added, referring to her contributions to Women's Aid, an organization aimed to raise awareness against domestic violence.
She continued: "It was actually Prince William that gave me my little honorary badge. And it’s quite a big deal. I didn’t realize how much of a big deal it was until I started reading about it, and then I started getting really nervous."
"It was really lovely. So because of that, I am going to get married in the same church as Princess Diana," she beamed.

With the MBE comes the special ability to request use of the church. "The ‘Home Chapel’ of the Order is located within St Paul’s Cathedral," it says on the site for the Honours System of the U.K. "Members and Medallists can request use of the Chapel for weddings, baptisms and memorial services."
Mel B on AGT: Fantasy League
The former Spice Girl certainly seems to be enjoying her time back in the AGT universe. Not only did she jokingly pour water onto Simon Cowell in the premiere episode, she also had a slumber party with her friend Heidi Klum behind the scenes. Then, when the Judges were filming in October 2023, Klum took a big spill, and almost pulled Mel B down with her. Luckily, Klum walked away with minor injuries, and joked about the incident while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

In an interview with Glamour, Mel B discussed how the process and the experience on the Fantasy League set has been like for her so far.
"Between us four Judges, we all had to pick a straw out, so depending on how short or how long your draw was, you got to pick one of your teams first. That was really interesting. Simon got the shortest draw, so he was always the last to pick," she explained. "And this year, which is funny, I'm actually sitting next to him. In all the seven years I've done it before, I've never sat next to him. But it's been really lovely to be back in L.A. and hanging out with Heidi again. We've been having our girly sleepovers at her house where the boys are not invited. It’s been a really exciting time."
