Sophie Fatu Is a Modern Shirley Temple Singing Frank Sinatra at 5 Years Old
Nobody saw this performance coming.
With a simple “Hi,” 5-year-old Sophie Fatu captured the hearts of America’s Got Talent.
As one of the youngest Acts ever, viewers didn’t quite know what to expect in Season 13 when little Sophie took the stage and immediately won over the Judges with one of the most adorable voices ever.
“Oh my God, there’s so much people!” she couldn’t help but adorably exclaim at one point.
After a few seconds of getting on Simon Cowell’s good side (Sophie revealed she had a dream he gave her a Golden Buzzer) the 5-year-old launched into a stunning rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” that fans would never forget. It was like seeing a modern-day Shirley Temple up there on stage!
Sophie showed all the indications that she was a star in the making: Her vibrato was on point, her tone was adorable, and most importantly, she sang with so much passion, Sinatra himself would be proud.
The moment belongs in the pantheon of great child “My Way” covers, right up there with Kelly Clarkson’s son’s epic performance!
Of course, Sophie didn’t rest with just one Sinatra cover. She wowed the Judges once again with an equally adorable performance of “New York, New York,” a moment she pinned on her Instagram account for all to see.

Although she didn’t make it past the Judge’s Cuts, she proved that age is just a number when it comes to making viewers’ jaws drop.
What is Sophie Fatu doing now?
Perhaps the most important question is, what is Sophie not up to these days? AGT fans will be happy to know that not only is she still pursuing her dream of being a singer, but she’s experiencing everything a kid her age should be doing.
Now 12 years old — the same age Darci Lynne was when she won Season 12 of AGT — Sophie is in school focusing on her studies, but she also discovered a new talent: She’s pretty good at gymnastics!
Her official Instagram account features a handful of videos of Sophie tumbling and flipping and generally having a great time on the mat, so who knows? Maybe viewers will see her singing and performing a gymnastics routine during a future season of AGT one day.
Over on her family’s YouTube account, fans can listen to countless impressive covers featuring the young star, including a particularly rousing rendition of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto that has amassed over one million views.
