A desperate Philadelphia cop is on the search for her missing sister in a neighborhood torn apart by drugs in Peacock’s latest thriller, Long Bright River.

Officer Mickey Fitzpatrick, played by Emmy-winning actress Amanda Seyfried, finds herself in a race against time in the eight-part limited series after vulnerable women are found murdered in the Kensington neighborhood.

Fearing for her own sister, Fitzpatrick sets out on a quest to find her missing sibling while juggling single parenting and questioning her place on the force. The harrowing story is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Liz Moore and is brought to life through the work of a talented cast.

To find out more about who’s starring in the gripping mystery, premiering March 13, read on below:

Who does Amanda Seyfried play on Long Bright River?

Seyfried plays the titular role of Officer Mickey Fitzpatrick, a beat cop on the streets, raising her young son on her own.

“It was a really hard character to crack and I got to explore a very specific neighborhood in Philly,” she told Forbes last year of the role. “I love these kinds of stories because they’re so important for us as a society to explore through human experiences.”

To prepare for the part, Seyfried went all in, doing ride-alongs with two Philadelphia cops — who also happened to be single mothers just like her character — and spending time with activists in the Kensington community working with those hit hard by the opioid crisis, per The New York Times.

It’s all part of the process for Seyfried, who is known to delve deep into the characters she plays. Seyfried took home both an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for her performance as groundbreaking medical technologist-turned-convicted-fraudster Elizabeth Holmes in 2022’s The DropoutThe mom of two — who spends most of her time away from the screen at her farm in upstate New York — is also known for her earlier roles in Mamma Mia!, Mean Girls, Les Misérables, Big Love, Veronica Mars and Dear John.

Who does Nicholas Pinnock play on Long Bright River?

British actor Nicholas Pinnock takes on the role of Truman Dawes, Mickey’s old partner and frequent confidant, who is on leave from the force after getting injured on the job. As he recently told MovieWeb, Pinnock was able to find that same type of camaraderie during filming with Seyfried.

“We’re telling these people’s lives, even though its fictional, these are real people who hopefully want to be portrayed,” Pinnock told the outlet. “And I couldn't have delivered my version of Truman without the safety and the comfort and the understanding and the space to be able to explore it without, you know, someone like Amanda at the head of the cast.”

If Pinnock looked familiar, there’s good reason for that. The London-born actor played the lead role in the legal drama For Life and also appeared in the TV series Django, the sci-fi thriller Counterpart, and limited series Marcella, according to his IMDB bio. Pinnock’s acting credits also include films like The Book of Clarence, The Last Tree, and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Who does Callum Vinson play on Long Bright River?

Callum Vinson may still be a child, but he’s already got some impressive acting credits to his name. On Long Bright River, Vinson stars as Mickey’s young son, Thomas Fitzpatrick.

An adorable Vinson hit the star-studded premiere of the limited series along with the rest of the cast just days ago, decked out in a green suit. Images posted to his Instagram show Vinson happily posing with Seyfried and Pinnock, before getting in on a group shot.

“Not sure how anything will ever top this amazing night,” the images were captioned.

According to his IMDB profile, Vinson got his start in acting at just 5 years old. His resume includes a seven-episode arc as Henry Collins on SyFy’s TV series Chucky, along with appearances on FBI: International, Dead Ringers, and the film Coup! Vinson also voiced the beloved children’s character piglet on Playdate with Winnie the Pooh and Me & Winnie the Pooh.

Who does Ashleigh Cummings play on Long Bright River?

Actress Ashleigh Cummings plays Mickey’s struggling sister Kacey in the new Peacock thriller.

Cummings recently took to Instagram to promote the limited series, posting the official trailer and writing: “This one has my whole heart.”

Although Cummings was born in Saudi Arabia, she later moved as a preteen to her family’s home country of Australia, according to an interview with Women’s Wear Daily. Many may recognize her from her role as Abby Conroy in the spy thriller Citadel, where she starred alongside Priyanka Chopra. Cummings is also known for playing the adult Pippa on The Goldfinch and has appeared in multiple TV series, including NOS4A2, Westside, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Puberty Blues, per her IMDB bio.

Who does John Doman play on Long Bright River?

For veteran actor John Doman, Long Bright River had a personal connection. He grew up in Philadelphia, not far from the Kensington neighborhood where the series is set.

“This was in the ’50s. It was all very blue-collar. Mostly Irish with some Polish and German thrown in. The streets were teeming with kids, all of us baby boomers,” Doman told Philadelphia Magazine. “We were all playing in the streets and on the sidewalks from the time we turned 6.”

In the Peacock series, Doman plays Gee, Mickey’s grandfather, affectionately known as G-Pop. Fans of Moore’s novel will notice the role of Mickey’s grandmother was changed in the limited series to be her grandfather.

Doman may not have gotten his start in acting until his 40s, but he’s had some memorable roles throughout his career. He’s perhaps best known for his role as Major Bill Rawls on The Wire, but he also played mob boss Carmine Falcone on Gotham, Pope Alexander VI on Borgia and Bruce Butler on The Affair. He’s also one of the few actors who has appeared in almost every Law & Order spin off, playing separate characters in Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

To find out how the mystery comes together, watch Long Bright River, premiering Thursday March 13 on Peacock.
