"One of the appeals of doing this series was because of the scale, variety, and diversity of habitats and animals [on the continent]," Gunton said in a recent interview with Cherry the Geek TV. "The biggest challenge is every time you go and shoot something, it's an expedition. Every single one has to be bespoke for that habitat, that animal, that location. Unfortunately, there's no one size fits all. I don't know how the logistics team on this series did it. It's extraordinary. I've done a lot of these shows and I think this is by far the most challenging one that I've worked on in terms of the range of logistics."

How can you stream The Americas?

New episodes of The Americas are available to stream on Peacock the day after they air on NBC. As of this writing, subscribers can gain access to the first five installments: "The Atlantic Coast," "Mexico," "The Wild West," "The Amazon," and "The Frozen North."

"When you're trying to tell this story of the entire supercontinent, there are millions of stories you can tell, so you have to make your selection right at the front," Gunton added. "And that's like casting in a movie."
