Before filming Peacock's Long Bright River, Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, Django) did his research on the show's lead Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout, Mamma Mia) — and what he discovered may not surprise longtime fans of the actress. In fact, it was something other people involved in the new Peacock series' production soon uncovered about the Mean Girls star as well.

"I've been a fan of Amanda's for a while," the actor told NBC Insider in a joint interview with Seyfried. "I called all the people that I knew and said, 'OK, what's she like?"

The duo play former police partners Mickey Fitzpatrick (Seyfried) and Truman Dawes (Pinnock) who team up to unravel who is killing vulnerable women in a Philadelphia neighborhood. Amidst the murders and the community being hit hard by the opioid crisis, Mickey is also frantically searching for her sister Kacey (Ashleigh Cummings).

The limited drama series is based off the novel by Liz Moore, who also acts as a writer and executive producer on the scripted show.

So, what did Pinnock discover about Seyfried? Well ...

What is Amanda Seyfried like to work with?

Pinnock joked he doesn't want to work with "a--holes."

"I wanna work with angels and everybody reassured me that she was an absolute dream to work with and to be able to share a screen with," Pinnock said. "It was kind of a no-brainer for me, really."

Seyfried seemed to agree with that sentiment, recalling a memory of their first day working together.

"You were like, 'I got you ... I'm here to support you,'" Seyfried said. 'I was like, 'Oh my god, dream!'"

But it wasn't just Pinnock who raved about Seyfried. Other people in the production had kind words for the show's star as well, explaining how much an impact she made on the series.

Moore described Seyfried as "incredible" while speaking to NBC Insider.

"With roles like Mank and The Dropout, people are seeing all that she has to offer as an actor and we certainly saw that on set," Moore added.

John Doman (The Wire, Gotham), who plays Mickey and Kacey's grandfather affectionately called G-Pop, loved working on his scenes with Seyfried.

"They were very intense, most of them, and emotional," Doman told NBC Insider. "She's a terrific actress. She's very present and giving and the give and take and just the emotional element of those scenes was really exciting."
