Look Who's at the SNL50 Special Table Read! This Photo Is a Fun Preview of the Night

Fans are wildly speculating over the big-name writers and cast gathered around Lorne Michaels in the show's pic.

By Christopher Rudolph

As we count the hours until SNL50: The Anniversary Special, the cast and crew of Saturday Night Live are hard at work to make the night a historic one. And that includes former cast members and writers like John Mulaney, Kate McKinnon, and so many more.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

In a new photo posted to the official SNL Instagram account, all-stars from the show's past and present have gathered around for a table read of the highly-anticipated anniversary special. As one commenter wrote: "This is the best I Spy EVER!"

Fans spot John Mulaney, Kate McKinnon and more in this SNL50: The Anniversary Special table read photo

The room is truly legends only, but let us take out our magnifier — because some faces are easier to spot than others. SNL creator Lorne Michaels is seated at the head of the table as always, and sitting next to him is former staff writer and Five Timers Club member John Mulaney.

Next to Mulaney, we think we spot former staff writer Emily Spivey and long-running cast member Kenan Thompson — and is that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler between them?

It looks like the silver-haired Paula Pell is also sitting next to them, and on the other side of the room, we can clearly clock former cast member Kate McKinnon, Colin Jost, Seth Meyers, and longtime SNL writer and producer Steve Higgins (who you may also recognize from his emcee duties on The Tonight Show)

One commenter asked, "Is that Will Ferrell in the green hat!?" pointing out a person sitting across the table from Michaels, with their back to the camera. It also looks like Kristen Wiig could be sitting next to Ferrell — making this special not only an SNL reunion for the duo, but also A Deadly Adoption one. Our hearts are racing.

We have to agree with the fans who filled up the comments with their excitement for Sunday's event, exclaiming how this pic is like a G.O.A.T guessing game.

"A room full of HEAVY HITTERS!!!" wrote one commenter, as another said, "The amount of talent at this table…"

Others added,  "I’ve never been more sat in my life," and, "Excited is not enough a word to describe how we feel for this."

During her February 12 appearance on The Tonight Show, Fey teased the big names who were returning to the writers' room for the anniversary special: "Me, Seth [Meyers], the great Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, John Mulaney," she said. "We're all coming back as 'staff writers.'"

"I can see what's coming together, and it is hilarious because going back to being on the writing staff, I immediately regressed to [being] so grouchy," Fey joked, before adding that she's "responsible for like two minutes of content."
