Burning questions remain for those watching this season, including whether Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) will ever find love amidst her disastrous dating spree, and if she'll take a shot with new attending doctor, Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell). Will Sharon Goodwin's (S. Epatha Merkerson) new romance with a Gaffney department chief last? And will Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) continue to recover after finally getting a life-saving kidney transplant from his son?
Episode 7 of Season 9 may get us a little closer to some of these answers, but will it air this week?

There's been plenty of drama so far. Season 9 began with Archer's health failing to the point that he was “dying” as he waited for a kidney donation from his son, Sean. Leading up to the season premiere, Sean’s drug relapse made him ineligible to donate his organ until he remained sober for six months. And just when it seemed the operation was a go, Archer started having second thoughts, saying he believed he wasn't worthy of receiving his son's kidney because he was a "terrible father."
Further complicating matters, Archer’s ex-wife almost stopped the transplant from happening when she showed up at the hospital, fuming at the plan for their son to give up a kidney. In the end, things cooled down and Archer got his new kidney. It remains to be seen how his health, and his relationship with Sean, hold up this season.
A bombshell was dropped when charge nurse Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) shared that her husband, Ben, wanted a divorce. It’s been causing heartache and chaos in her life, despite the two eventually coming to an agreement on who would get the cat.

Two new doctors have also been keeping things interesting on Chicago Med this season.
New attending doctor, Mitch Ripley, has a complicated past with Dr. Charles, the head of psychiatry. And there's been some flirting between Dr. Ripley and Dr. Asher, as the latter dips her toes into the dating pool, only to have connected with two nightmare men so far.
Another new doctor has been causing “headaches” this season: Dr. Zola Ahmad, who has had several incidents of overstepping to get what she needed for her patients. Time will tell if she continues to push boundaries.
Meanwhile, after Goodwin’s ex-husband Bert Goodwin (Gregory Alan Williams) and their grandchild landed in the hospital due to an incident that happened while he was babysitting, it led to a series of events that ended with Bert being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia.
