Suits LA Cast Member Kristen Hager May Look Familiar to Chicago Med Fans

Curious where you recognize the newest guest star on Suits LA? We've got your answers.

By Joe Dziemianowicz

Legal intrigue has heated up fast on Suits LA. For ace attorney Ted Black (Stephen Amell), a high-profile, high-stakes murder case has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. As the plot thickened in Episode 3, fans may recognize a familiar face joining the story.

How to Watch

Watch Suits: LA Sundays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Black’s client Lester Thompson (Kevin Weisman), who’s accused of killing his business partner, Simon, admitted that he stole money from the victim. Meanwhile, it turns out that Thompson’s wife, Valerie, slept with Simon

In addition to wondering if Thompson did murder Simon, viewers may also be curious why Kristen Hager, who first appears in Episode 3, "He Knew," in the role of Valerie, looks so familiar. (Hint: NBC’s Chicago Med is one reason.)

Before the next episode of Suits LA airs on Sunday at 9/8c on NBC, we get you up to speed on why you recognize her.

Suits LA cast member Kristen Hager's other movie and TV roles

Kristen Hager stands on the red carpet at the Los Angeles Premiere of "Suits LA"

Born in Red Lake, Ontario, Canada, according to a TV Insider bio, Hager has been making an impression on the small screen and in film for two decades. For her, being an actor is the realization of a dream come true.

“I grew up always wanting to act, always knowing that's what I wanted to do,” she told Collider. “I knew that I was going to leave and become an actor, and be in film and television, and I've done it.”

In 2005, she broke through in a role in the Lifetime miniseries Beach Girls opposite Rob Lowe and Julia Ormond. Building upon that performance, Hager appeared in the stylized Bob Dylan biofilm I’m Not There in 2007. The same year, Hager hit the screen in the sci-fi sequel Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem

In 2009, Hager played Leslie Van Houten in Leslie, My Name Is Evil, a Canadian film about the murder trial of Charles Manson and his “family” members.

“I had to do incredible amounts of research, just to prepare for the role,” she told Collider. “Watching every interview she did, books, Manson documentaries, and really trying to let that role seep into my skin.”

On Being Human, a supernatural series that ran 2011-2014, Hager played Nora Sergeant, a nurse who got up close and personal with a werewolf. In Condor, a thriller series based on the spy novel, Three Days of the Condor, Hager played the wife of a CIA agent.

Hager is also recognizable from Chicago Med. On Season 7 of the hospital drama, she played Dr. Stevie Hammer. To prepare for the role, she observed trauma physicians, she told NBC in 2022. “Medical training was integral,” she said. “It was like a boot camp … and it was incredible.”

In a Variety report, Hager said she’s a fan of the original Suits, calling it “witty and entertaining.” On Suits LA, we’re still just getting to know Hager’s alter ego, Valerie Thompson. We’re buckled in and bracing for more twists and turns.
