Suits LA Cast Member Lex Scott Davis Studied Physical Therapy and Dance Before the Show
Find out what projects Davis appeared in before tackling the meaty role of ambitious entertainment attorney Erica Rollins.
In NBC's Suits LA, Lex Scott Davis plays the character Erica Rollins, an ambitious attorney at the prestigious Black Lane law firm founded by Ted Black (Stephen Amell) and Stuart Lane (Josh McDermitt). She's made big strides in her career in just the first three episodes of the show, but it's nothing compared to the many strides the actress has taken in her life and career.
"She's someone who [is] very confident, very passionate about what she does," Davis said in a recent interview with Parade. "And she busts her ass for her clients and for her colleagues, and she deserves to see it at the table. She deserves to be acknowledged and deserves to be seen. And I think all of us want to be valued in that way, if we're being honest with ourselves. All of us want to be heard. And so I could really draw in real-life experiences where I feel like the work may have been harder than my male counterparts. And what's the conversation there for who deserves something because they've earned it, and who deserves something because of what they look like or whether their gender or whatever."

But who was Lex Scott Davis before she entered the dog-eat-dog world of entertainment law on Suits LA? Head below for a snappy rundown of the actress's professional journey thus far!
A brief history of Lex Scott Davis's career
Davis began acting at the age of three "and later honed her talents at her hometown's African-American community theatre" in Baltimore, Maryland (via the actress's Fandango biography).
As a young adult, Davis attended Philadelphia's Drexel University where she earned a degree in Dance and Physical Therapy. The former concentration came in rather handy in Episode 3 of Suits LA — titled "He Knew" — where Erica needs to perform a rendition of the iconic Carlton dance from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She ultimately dropped out of Drexel and moved home until she could make enough money working in a hail salon to focus on acting at the New York Film Academy. Upon graduating, she moved out to Los Angeles. "I had nothing to lose," she told Black Girl Nerds in 2021. "Obviously, it worked out..."
In 2014, the actress appeared in two short films — "Two Strangers" and "ColorBlind" — before making her television debut in The Exes a year later. From there, Davis landed main roles in the made-for-TV biopic Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, the small screen adaptation of Antoine Fuqua's Training Day, the 2018 remake of Superfly, Universal Pictures' The First Purge, and Peter Farrelly's raunchy comedy Ricky Stanicky.
