Where Is Al Roker On The TODAY Show? (Week of March 10)

Here's why the famous TODAY  meteorologist hasn't been on air.

By Elizabeth Logan

Fear not! Al Roker may be missing from TODAY, but it's not due to illness or injury. He's just on vacation.

Al Roker is taking a well-deserved break

How to Watch

Watch TODAY weekdays at 7AM ET on NBC.

As TODAY's Craig Melvin noted during a conversation about the ferocity of groundhogs, the co-anchor remarked: "He's on fire because he's off next week for vacation." Roker responded, "That's right." Seems like this break from work was already on the calendar, and America's favorite meteorologist will hopefully share details when he gets back.

Maybe his adorable granddaughter Sky can fill in while he's gone? She made her TODAY debut in October 2024 and absolutely nailed it. She and her mom, Roker's daughter Courtney, were visiting Roker to promote Al Roker's Recipes to Live By, a father-daughter cookbook. Surely with a name like Sky, the baby girl can give us a forecast.

Roker's daughter Leila is newly engaged

It's all looking up for the Roker family, as Al's daughter Leila, a journalist based in Paris, just announced her engagement to her boyfriend of seven years.

The proud father of three celebrated the news on Instagram, writing, “Well, it is now official. [Sylvain Gricourt] has proposed to my little girl, @leilaroker in the romantic city of Venice. We could not be happier, and look forward to planning for these two wonderful young folks coming together.” He couldn’t help but include a few photos from the special moment, and the dazzling pear cut diamond ring on his daughter’s finger.

On her own post, Leila Roker shared, “8 years ago, I moved to Paris, 7 years ago I met my person and best friend, and 2 days ago, that person took me on the most amazing surprise trip to Venice to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together.” Deborah Roberts, Al Roker’s wife of nearly 30 years, welcomed her fiancé to the family. “We could not be happier and more joyful!!!!” Roberts commented. “Welcome to the family Sylvain! Now let’s plan a wedding!”

Over the summer, Roker and Roberts spent some quality time with Leila and their future son-in-law while the TODAY co-host was in Paris covering the 2024 Summer Olympics. In July 2024, Roker told People that spending time with his daughter, who speaks fluent French, was “the gold medal."
