As this week’s episode title suggests, “The Frozen North” is all about the cold and snowy reaches of the North American continent, tracking the seldom-seen animal habits of wolves, polar bears, lynx, caribou, and more — all buoyed by Hanks’ inimitable narration and set to an original score from Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer.

What time is The Americas’ new episode on tonight, Sunday, March 9?
The fifth installment in The Americas, “The Frozen North” is set to premiere Sunday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Tune in an hour early at 7 p.m. ET to also catch an encore presentation of “The Atlantic Coast” — the series’ very first episode.
Conceived as a spectacular cinematic look at the remarkably diverse array of flora and fauna that span the length of North and South America, The Americas boasts incredible up-close animal footage that required five years to plan and capture. Executive produced by Emmy-winning documentarian Mike Gunton, the series offers an unparalleled glimpse into the habitats and behaviors of the native wildlife that links the complex ecosystems interacting and connecting across two continents.

So far, The Americas has explored eastern coastal habitats (“The Atlantic Coast”), unveiled the mysteries of how the desert meets the tropics (“Mexico”), gone roaming across the United State’s vast wilderness interior (“The Wild West”), and taken a tour of the Western Hemisphere’s most delicate yet massive river ecosystem (“The Amazon”).
Future episodes of The Americas will examine both the Gulf and western coasts on North America, plus delve deep into South America to range across the Andes mountain chain, before heading even further south to explore the unique South American ecosystem of Patagonia.
