Get ready to go exploring “The Frozen North” with Tom Hanks as your guide!

By Benjamin Bullard

We’re approaching the midway point of NBC’s epic nature docu-series The Americas, an extraordinary 10-part glimpse into our hemisphere’s wild and vital beauty with the iconic Tom Hanks serving as our able narrative guide.

How to Watch

Watch The Americas Sundays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Hailing from award-winning executive producer Mike Gunton, the four episodes of The Americas that have already aired — "The Atlantic Coast," "Mexico," "The Wild West," and "The Amazon" — have covered vast territory across both North and South America (you can stream all past episodes on Peacock here).

If you’re keeping count, that means we’ve still got six hour-long episodes yet to come, including an all-new installment that’s set to debut tonight, Sunday, March 9. Keep scrolling for more on what’s next on The Americas, including everything you need to know so you don’t miss a single minute!

Is The Americas new tonight? (Sunday, March 9)

Yes, there's an all-new episode of The Americas airing at 8 p.m. ET on NBC tonight, Sunday, March 9. Tonight’s episode marks the series’ fifth installment — and it’s all new. Titled “The Frozen North,” it’s an intimate and snowy up-close look at the cold and austere winter wilderness; an environment where all kinds of wildlife — from polar bears to caribou — vie to survive and thrive against the harshest of natural odds.

Hanks has already suffused The Americas with an infectiously inquisitive spirit, a curious onlooker’s fascination at discovering the hidden secrets of the natural world that sprawls across two diverse continents. Through the stark and icy snowscapes of “The Frozen North,” his narrative voice is bound to come in handy as viewers explore the pack patterns of wild wolves, spy the predator-prey relationship between lynx and hare, and hear the songs of walruses amid their native coastal habitat.

If you’re new to the series, be sure to tune in an hour early (7 p.m. ET) to catch an encore airing of "The Atlantic Coast" — The Americas’ very first episode, and an ideal place to get on board. Future episodes will span the North American continent for a look at both the Gulf and western coasts, as well as travel deep into South America to take in the mighty Andes mountain ecosystem and uncover the unique natural mysteries of Patagonia.

How can you watch The Americas?

The Americas airs each of its remaining weekly installments on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. All episodes will be available to stream next-day on Peacock.
