Tinika Wyatt's Original Song About The Voice Got Adam's Coach Replay (LYRICS)

Tinika Wyatt made a last-ditch effort to get on a Voice team, and it worked.

By Elizabeth Logan

It's never too late for Tinika Wyatt. At 50 years old, the longtime marriage counselor is an empty nester who is finally ready to put music first after years of balancing all her priorities. She's toured Japan six or seven times, sings in her church choir, and now, her passion has taken her all the way to The Voice. But it almost wasn't enough.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

How Tinika Wyatt got a Coach Replay on The Voice

Wyatt showed off an impressive range singing Demi Lovato's "Sorry Not Sorry," but due to some wobble in her tone, she didn't get any chair turns. As always, the Coaches were kind and helpful in their feedback, with John Legend remarking that she could pass for as young as 24.

Coach Adam Levine expressed a bit of ambivalence about not turning his chair for her, noting he'd just returned to the show after a long hiatus. Quipped Wyatt, "I thought you came back to get me!" She added that she'd auditioned for the show at an open call over 10 years prior, singing an original song. Here are the lyrics:

Tell me what would it take

To have a Blind Audition with Blake?

Adam, would you please

Just turn your chair for me?

...and that was all he needed to hear. This season, same as last season, each Coach has one "Replay" button that retroactively turns their chair for an Artist. Thanks to her creativity, Wyatt earned Levine's. "There’s a richness in Tanika’s voice that I love. She has this sunny disposition that is irresistible," he said.

Why Adam Levine came back to The Voice

The OG Coach simply felt the time was right to return. "The only way to sum it up is that just energetically...the opportunity came at the right moment and I was really ready, and we started talking about it and one thing led to another and here I am. It was that simple," Levine told NBC Insider.

He explained, "It didn’t involve too much deliberation or overthinking. I kind of just felt ready. I was really happy to come back and experience it again with these three wonderful people.".
