John Legend’s Jackets for His Voice Team Have an Iconic Message on the Back

The third round of The Voice Blind Auditions continues on February 17, and as the Season 27 Coaches listen closely for a winner-worthy talent, red chair veteran John Legend has a pretty nice gift for the Artists once they've chosen to join his team.
Aside from the explosive performances, Artist gifts can be one of the best parts of The Voice's Blind Auditions. Kelly Clarkson started the tradition in Season 14, and it's since become a staple of Blind Auditions. Season 22 Coach Ariana Grande gifted her Artists a vocal health lunchbox of goodies. Blake Shelton gave his Artists a tongue-in-cheek T-shirt or bobblehead. The Coaches' gifts can run the gamut from thoughtfully chic to downright hilarious, and they're frequently leveraged as a tantalizing bribe for joining a particular team. Like many Coaches, Legend wanted his Season 27 Artist gift to build camaraderie and generate excitement for the competition to come, and he delivered that in spades.

John Legend's jackets for his Voice Season 27 team are so cool
Legend's gift for Season 27 Artists has taken "stylish welcome" to the next level. During the Season 27 Blind Auditions, Legend gifted his team of Artists an exclusive blue varsity-style jacket with striking red trim and a bold yet iconic statement on the back: "Legend." The jackets not only play on The Voice Coach's stage name but also serve as a confident promise of their future in the game.
"I love that we get to be surrounded by so much talent, and it's really inspiring, truthfully," Legend told NBC Insider in February 2024 about being a Coach on The Voice. "I learn so much from being on this show. I learn from coaching. I learn from the interaction I have with these Artists, and it's very renewing because, you know, I've been making records for, like, 20 years now, and to be around Artists that have that hunger and that excitement is very renewing for me, and I love that experience... The inspiration that I get from these Artists every single time is very renewing for me, and it doesn't get old."
