Snoop Dogg Has a Shockingly Easy Secret to the Perfect Crispy Bacon

The Voice Coach's technique is expert-level.

By Chris Phelan

As one of the world's most iconic hip-hop artists, you wouldn't expect Snoop Dogg to have any kitchen tricks up his sleeve — but he does!

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Don’t get us wrong, nothing tops the unique way the former Voice Coach enjoys a sugary doughnut in the morning (hint: it involves dipping the pastry into, fittingly, a Gin & Juice cocktail), but Snoop’s refreshingly straightforward way of cooking up perfectly crispy and mouth-watering bacon makes us want to see him release a cookbook one day.

In February 2024, Snoop’s recipe, as told to cookbook author Jess Damuck (who worked alongside food legend Martha Stewart for a decade), was reprinted on the food blog the kitchn, and it’s a tasty recipe that's just too good not to pass along!

Here’s how to cook bacon like Snoop Dogg

Take a page out of Snoop's book and cook B-A-C-O-N like the D-O-double-G. Just follow this easy recipe:

Heat the skillet

Grab a pan — cast-iron, if you have it — and start warming it over medium heat. Don't worry about adding cooking oil; the bacon's fat will stand in for that!

Separate the bacon and add to the skillet

Snoop wouldn’t dare to drop the entire uncut slab of bacon into a skillet. He takes the time to separate each piece, and you should too. However, don’t gently lay each piece flat in the pan. Throw them all in there. Embrace the curliness.

Start cooking

Cook for 15-20 minutes, depending on how crispy you want your bacon. And here’s the secret: Don’t forget to use tongs to move each piece around so nothing gets stuck to the pan. That’s right; stir the bacon!

Transfer the bacon

When the meat reaches its desired doneness, move the mouth-watering bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, and discard the grease. (Wait, did you expect Snoop Dogg's recipe to be complicated? That’s not in the spirit of the hip-hop legend!)

The blog's author, Rachel Perlmutter, explained why Snoop's method works so well.

"Stirring allows the bacon fat to render more evenly and slowly for perfectly crispy bacon," she wrote. "Because you don’t need to lay out the strips in a single layer, you can cook more bacon at a time instead of working in batches. This method works best with bacon that isn't super thick-cut because it curls up more easily. The curly texture of the bacon makes it even more crispy than if it was flat."

Seriously, is there anything Snoop Dogg can't do? From his unforgettable time on The Voice to being an NBC Olympics correspondent to showing us his softer side, he's becoming more legendary every day.
