Pete Davidson Stole Joe Pesci's Sunglasses & More Details From Peacock's Bupkis Premiere Screening

Since the moment he broke onto the scene as a young comedian on Saturday Night Live, Pete Davidson has been collecting talented celebrity friends. His new autobiographical series on Peacock, Bupkis — in which he stars alongside Edie Falco, Joe Pesci, and a host of those celeb friends — is the result. So it only made sense for the premiere screening of the first two episodes to be just as star-studded.

NBC Insider's Stephanie Gomulka attended the event on Thursday night at New York City's Apollo Theater to view the premiere episodes and catch a few glimpses of the guest list.

Attendees included Executive Producer, writer, and star, Davidson, showrunner, EP, and writer Judah Miller, EPs Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, Erin David, and Dave Sirus, and stars Falco, Brad Garrett, Kenan Thompson, Chase Sui Wonders, Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly), Steve Buscemi, Paul Walter Hauser, and many more.

Clad in a floor-length jean jacket, hoodie, and what appeared to be chocolate-brown Uggs, Davidson took the stage to deliver a few opening remarks before the screening, praising the cast and thanking his collaborators.

"The cast is absolutely bananas and they didn’t have to do it," he said. "They’re all doing really well and they did it because they’re nice ...

"Joe Pesci, he called me and he’s like, 'Peter,' he goes, 'I would do anything for you,' he goes, 'I would show up there and take all those pictures with you and I’d do it because I love you cause that’s the type of guy I am,' and I go, 'I know, Joe,' and he goes, 'I’m not coming, but I’ll be watching,'" Davidson continued. "So he’s watching. He sends his love.

"Check out his badass glasses that he wore in literally every shot of the show," he added, showing off said sunglasses.

Davidson didn't just give a shoutout to his amazing cast; he also gave due to Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

"Susan Rovner f***ing made sure that it ended up here and that’s why I think [Peacock] is really f***ing taking off and they’re doing a really good job and they’re taking big swings and this was a very big swing," he said. "I’m just very grateful to her 'cause she was like, 'F*** yeah, let’s do this!' So thank you to Susan Rovner."

Also on his list of believers was SNL creator Lorne Michaels: "I met Lorne Michaels almost 10 years ago when I got interviewed to possibly be a writer at SNL and somehow he believed in me enough despite me not being able to do any of the things that fit SNL. He saw something and just believed in me and let me rock."

The big surprise of the night was Ghostface Killah from Wu-Tang Clan and Sheek Louch from D-Block coming out after the screening to support Davidson and rap a few songs with Technician the DJ. Machine Gun Kelly in particular really seemed to enjoy the performance from where he was watching in the crowd. 

Before that, though, the packed room was treated to the first two episodes of Bupkis, which has been billed as a fictionalized, exaggerated version of Davidson's actual life story growing up on Staten Island. Pesci plays Davidson's grandfather alongside Falco, who will play the mother of the comedian’s character alongside a slew of other noteworthy celebrity guest stars (many of whom were in attendance) such as Charlie Day, Brad Garrett, Simon Rex, Ray Romano, Kenan Thompson, and Chase Sui Wonders.
