Mike Myers Dropped a Dr. Evil Reference as Elon Musk in SNL's March 8 Cold Open
The SNL alum helped recreate the real March 6 meeting between the president, Cabinet members, and the tech billionaire.
The cold open of Saturday Night Live's March 8 episode was once again ripped from the headlines, as Mike Myers returned to play Elon Musk for a second time.
The "Trump, Musk and Rubio Cold Open" found President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) trying to mediate a meeting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio (Marcello Hernández) and Elon Musk (Myers) — a reference to the reportedly contentious Thursday White House meeting about Musk's influence and widespread confusion over who is in charge of firing federal workers in the FAA, CDC, and other agencies.
"This week, The New York Times broke the story of an explosive Trump cabinet meeting, which ended in a shouting match between Marco Rubio and Elon Musk — ruining what has been an otherwise remarkably cool and smooth start to the Trump presidency," said an announcer (Steve Higgins) at the top of the sketch. "We now take you to the Oval Office as President Trump tries to broker a truce."
"Marco, thank you so much for coming," Trump (Johnson) said. "I know you're under a lot of stress, but I can't have you fighting with Elon, okay? I need you to be my good little Marco."

"Mr. Trump, if you think I'm going to stand here and let you call me that, you're right," Rubio (Hernández) replied.
"Planes are crashing, and he keeps trying to fire air traffic controllers," Rubio complained.
"Well, Elon knows a lot about air travel, okay? He runs SpaceX, which is doing incredible things, in terms of explosions and with regard to rocket debris," Trump said, referring to the latest failed SpaceX Starship rocket test in which the rocket again exploded minutes in (while its falling debris causing delays due to grounded airline flights, Musk deemed it "a minor setback.")
Trump assured Rubio that he's "doing great. You're the G.O.A.T! You're the scapegoat. But it's it's still a type of goat." He then went off on an inner tangent about Rubio's rambling, suddenly realizing, "I'm thinking something and not saying it out loud. Whoa! This is a whole new thing. This is crazy...this could save me a lot of trouble. I should do this more often. I won't, but I should."

Mike Myers' Elon Musk channeled Dr. Evil in SNL's March 8 cold open
"Hi, it's me: Tech support. Hahaha just kidding!" Myers' self-amused Musk said upon his arrival.
"Elon, I want to thank you for at least wearing a suit this time," Trump told him. "Doesn't look great, right? Billionaire, but he shops at Joseph A Bank. It's it's giving 'groomsman'."
"I can't believe this is the guy you've given access to the entire government," Rubio marveled. "He's not an elected official."
"I know you are, but what am I? Comedy!" Musk shot back.
"That's enough! If you're going to insult each other, at least make them good," Trump told them, immediately offering a few roast examples.

"Phase one of my plan is complete: Ingratiate yourself to the president and take over the media," Myers' Musk says in his own internal monologue. "But was taking this job a bad idea? A lot of people seem to really hate me. My Tesla stock is crashing, and my personal net worth just dropped by $100 billion dollars." At that, Myers put his pinkie up to his mouth as he slipped into full Dr. Evil, his villain from the Austin Powers movies.
During the March 8 "Weekend Update," Colin Jost made a joke about Myers' Musk impression during a bit about Trump's trade dispute with Canada over his tariffs plan.
"Even right here at SNL, American sketch comedy jobs are being stolen by filthy Canadians," Jost cracked, as a picture of Myers from that same night's cold open appeared onscreen.
