Michael Bublé Was Hilariously Surprised by His Wife's Valentine's Day Request

"That’s your answer?” The Voice Coach asked his wife of over a decade on one surprising Valentine's Day.

By Kaitlin Kimont

Not everyone can say they have one of the most romantic songs written about them, but Michael Bublé’s wife can. The Voice Coach wrote his 2009 hit song “Haven’t Met You Yet” about his wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, who also starred in the music video. So Bublé certainly set the bar high for himself in the romance department!

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

But for the most romantic day of the year, after more than a decade of marriage and four children together, Lopilato had a simple request for Valentine’s Day that left her husband visibly stunned.

Michael Bublé was hilariously surprised by what his wife wants for Valentine’s Day

In 2022, Bublé hosted a virtual “Romance Roundtable” discussion with five of his fans during which they chatted about the true meaning of Valentine's Day and how they show up for their partners. At one point in the video, Bublé called his wife and asked her what she would like for Valentine’s Day — and was hilariously shocked by her answer.

“What would you like me to do [for Valentine’s Day]?” he asked Lopilato, who briefly joined the call on FaceTime.

“I like when you spend quality time with me,” she answered without hesitation.

“That’s it? That’s your answer?” Bublé replied with a surprised look on his face.

“Yeah, it’s nice!” she clarified.

Indeed, whether they’re getting dressed to the nines for a red carpet event or are simply making pudding at home, it’s clear that Bublé and Lopilato treasure their quality time together. And Bublé’s Valentine's Day post in 2024 highlighted just that.

“My best friend, incredible mother of our four children, and the love of my life. Happy Valentine’s Day, for today and everyday I spend with you @luisanalopilato,” he captioned his Instagram post featuring romantic video clips of him and Lopilato laughing and sharing heartfelt moments together.

As Bublé said in a June 2024 YouTube video, he’s “excited to be” his wife’s “plus one forever,” and the two get creative with their date nights. In 2021, Bublé shared a photo of him and Lopilato sharing a kiss at Stanley Park in Vancouver under the Lions Gate Bridge with bike helmets in their hands.

And while he and Lopilato also go to dinners and movies for their date nights, Bublé said in a 2016 interview with Canadian magazine Chatelaine he likes to do something active as well. “I always thought it was cool to go bowling or do something sporty,” he said.

When Bublé and Lopilato met for the first time back in 2008, the Canadian singer was certain he’d found his other half. Bublé told Ireland’s RTÉ One in 2012 that he had just finished a performance in Buenos Aires when he spotted Lopilato across a room, but his security team had whisked him away into a van. “I was actually really bummed,” he recalled. “My grandfather was with me and I said, ‘You know, grandpa, that’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and I’m never going to see her again.”

As luck would have it, they ended up at the same party that night and the rest is history. “It was a fluke. I happened to meet a girl that I thought was attractive, beautiful physically, and the more I got to know her, the more I realized that beauty was multiplied on the inside,” he told Access Hollywood in 2019. “And now I realized, listen, I just married up in the biggest way. I’m fascinated by watching her as a mother … She’s my family, I got very, very lucky.”
