Yes, Adam Levine and Kate Hudson Knew Each Other in High School
Team Adam may have the biggest advantage of any team!
Kate Hudson is looking to make her mark on Season 27 of The Voice as Adam Levine’s Battle Advisor — and their backstory may be the very thing that could help swing the competition in Team Adam's favor.
While the Season 27 Battle Advisors are all impressive (and amazing) in their own right, Levine and Hudson have a hidden advantage: Believe it or not, the two superstars have been friends since high school!
In an eye-opening March 4 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hudson explained — after giddily confirming "I've known Adam since high school!" — that she remembers Levine chasing his rock star dreams even back then.
"You know, he loved it," Hudson said. "His first band, they were always playing somewhere. It's amazing to see his success and then to be here doing this with him, it feels very familiar, yet surreal at the same time."
Levine's journey to superstardom started when he was just a teenager — it's crazy to think that Hudson witnessed his humble beginnings! (And, most likely, some seriously wacky hairstyles.)

The two knew each other despite not going to the same school. According to Billboard, Levine attended Brentwood School in Los Angeles, while Hudson attended Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in nearby Santa Monica, California.
As it turns out, Levine was also part of the same interview, and in typical Levine fashion, he hilariously downplayed the significance — and advantage — of having someone like Hudson as his Battle Advisor this year.
"She's so annoying," he deadpanned. "She can, like, do everything."
Saying Hudson can “do everything” isn't an exaggeration. In addition to being one of the most well-known actresses on the planet, she recently kickstarted her music career in a major way!
In fact, fans who tuned in to The Voice during Season 25 were treated to an unforgettable live performance that signaled her arrival as an artist. It’s crystal clear to fans that Hudson joining Team Adam as a Battle Advisor is not just an advantage — it could easily be considered a cheat code!
How do The Voice Battles work?
The Battles began on March 10 and if the first performances were any indication, it’s going to be a wild March!
In Season 27, there are three rounds of the Battles before the remaining Artists advance to the Knockouts. During the Battles, each Coach chooses two team members to perform a duet of the same song together. Their Coach will then determine which Artist will head to the Knockouts. The eliminated Artist isn't necessarily out of the competition right then and there, however.
Each Coach has one Save and one Steal to use during this round, so Levine, John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Kelsea Ballerini will definitely keep us on our toes!
With one episode of the Battles in the books already, Coaches will have another go-round when The Voice returns on Monday, March 17!
