Marina Squerciati Gives a Hint About Burgess' Wedding Dress: "I Was Asked to..."
The star got a chance to shop for her character's potential gown for the big day.
Marina Squerciati is going wedding dress shopping!
"But wait," you may ask. "Hasn't she been married to Eli Kay-Oliphant since 2016?"
That's true, Squerciati is happily married with two kids. She actually went dress shopping for her character, Chicago P.D.'s Kim Burgess! In a February 25 Instagram Story, she shared photos from her recent venture to a local Chicago-based boutique.
"I was asked to find a low key dress...," she wrote in her stories.
The star jokingly revealed the gown she "chose" for Burgess, and it looked like something out of a fairytale princess movie. This potential Burgess wedding attire had everything, from the strapless princess dress to the tiara to sparkling silver heels. The photo was set to "Going to the Chapel" by The Crystals, which added to the fun of the reveal.
Squerciati's smile says everything — even if this dress never makes it onto the show, she's clearly loving every second of it! (It's also proof that the star looks stunning in whatever she wears.)

And thankfully, someone close to the show's production is just as excited as fans are about this enticing event.
Chicago P.D. showrunner discusses plans for the Burgess-Ruzek wedding
With the Burgess-Ruzek wedding coming up, fans are understandably giddy with excitement. As it turns out, so is showrunner Gwen Sigan. In a recent interview with TV Line, she spoke about her goal of spotlighting the happy couple as much as possible in the weeks leading up to their big day.
"They have so much going on in their lives," Sigan acknowledged. "But I think there's this conscious effort to also, as we'll see, articulated in an episode to sort of enjoy this time of their life of being engaged and planning the wedding. And it's something we don't really get to see so much on the show because we're usually at work, but to get to remember that they're planning this wedding and trying to juggle it all and do that while they're also parenting Mac and working these very high-stress jobs."

Ultimately, Siwan looks forward to finally getting the two fan-favorite characters to tie the knot after so many years of drama!
"Eventually, the weddings planned for the season finale and to get to see the two of them finally tie the knot after all this time and do something special and that feels a lot like them is the goal there," she explained.
Inquiring minds need to know: It isn't unusual to see characters from seasons past pop up in wedding episodes, so is that a possibility for the Season 12 Finale? Will fans see familiar faces, like Tracy Spiridakos' Hailey Upton, for example, return for a one-off appearance in honor of the wedding?
"We'll see, I think it would be so fun to be able to do that," Siwan admitted. "I don't know how logistically possible it is, but yeah, it would be fun."
