Little Timothée Chalamet on Law & Order Is Literally Unrecognizable

The award-winning actor got his start on the iconic NBC crime procedural.

Timothée Chalamet walked away as one of the big winners at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards — and it all started on Law & Order back in 2009.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

In one of our favorite moments of the night, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit icon Mariska Hargitay introduced a video package celebrating all of the illustrious actors and actresses who had guest starred in the Law & Order franchise, including Chalamet himself.

Many fans may not know this, but Chalamet's first-ever television role was as young Eric Foley in Law & Order Season 19, Episode 10's "Pledge," and the soft-spoken future movie star is almost unrecognizable in that role.

The unexpected death of Chalamet's character in his own home sets the episode's classic "whodunit" plot off with a bang, and it's wild to think how far the 29-year-old has come in 2025.

The Dune star only had a few lines of dialogue, but he made the best of them. It was enough for viewers to be heartbroken to find out the adorable video game-playing kid was found in a pool of his own blood later in the episode.

Many former Law & Order guest stars were in attendance at the awards show, and Keke Palmer — an L&O alum in her own right — even commemorated that fact with a toast in an unforgettable moment.

The Password host instructed any celeb who's appeared in the legendary franchise to "take a drink now"countless people took her up on the offer, including Chalamet!

Appearing in the Law & Order world is almost like a rite of passage for up-and-coming Hollywood stars, and it's a real trip to look back on just how young Chalamet was — he was only 12 — when he made his television debut. Who knew the heights he would one day reach? (And he's just getting started!)

Chalamet took home the SAG Award for Best Actor for his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. During his acceptance speech, the actor didn't shy away from letting his professional aspirations be known.

"I know we're in a subjective business, but the truth is, I'm really in pursuit of greatness," Chalamet said. "I know people don't usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I'm inspired by the greats. I'm inspired by the greats here tonight. I'm as inspired by Daniel Day Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. So I'm deeply grateful. This doesn't signify that, but it's a little more fuel. It's a little more ammo to keep going. Thank you so much."
