Why Law & Order Guest Stars Luke Slattery and Michael Devine Look Familiar
If you recognized the actors who played a religious father and son on the February 20, 2025 episode Law & Order, here's where you may know them from.
An isolated religious group came into focus on the latest Law & Order episode, “In God We Trust," which saw one of its members put on trial after killing a former member who had an affair with his fiancée.
Luke Slattery made a special guest appearance as jealous killer Jacob Albrecht, a sheltered carpenter who attacked the man who was sleeping with his fiancée, Martha Fairchild (Ashlyn Maddox).
The Season 24 episode also saw Michael Devine in the role of Jacob's father, Pastor John Albrecht, who tried to keep his son out of prison by suggesting he could provide services to his community to pay for his crimes instead.

Selenis Leyva, who currently stars on Lopez vs. Lopez on NBC, and was previously on Orange Is the New Black, also tried to keep Jacob out of jail as he defense attorney.

What else has Luke Slattery been in?
Slattery's Law & Order guest spot was a stark departure from his role in the critically acclaimed 2023 biopic The Boys in the Boat, which told the inspirational story of the U.S. men’s rowing team’s quest for gold in the 1936 Olympics. Slattery played coxswain Bobby Moch in the film, which was directed and co-produced by George Clooney.
The actor also played tortured group therapy patient Chance Becker in a powerful five-episode arc on NBC’s New Amsterdam. Becker sought the help of Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) after accidentally burning down his home with his family still inside — although the character initially hid the true root of his trauma, according to ScreenRant.
Slattery showed off his acting talents in a number of guest-starring roles on shows like NBC's Chicago P.D., The Blacklist, NCIS: New Orleans, The Good Doctor, and FBI: Most Wanted.
In his latest role on Law & Order, Slattery shared scenes with another versatile actor, Michael Devine, who played Pastor John Albrecht, Jacob’s father. The pastor was also the leader of the religious group, which prohibited the use of technology like cell phones in its quest to live a more spiritual life.
What has actor Michael Devine appeared in?
Mystery fans may recognize Devine from his role as Detective Paul O’Rourke in the 2020 limited series The Undoing. The thriller, which focused on a wealthy couple’s unraveling marriage in the wake of a murder, starred Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant.
Devine also had a role as Christopher in a 2022 episode of the horror series The Watcher, and he had a 10-episode run as James “Tech” Padgett on the crime comedy-drama series Limitless.
The actor has made guest appearances on series including NBC's Chicago Fire, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bull, Orange is the New Black, and Inside Amy Schumer.
As Pastor Albrecht on Season 24 of Law & Order, he tried to convince prosecutors that his son Jacob would be better served paying for his dark deed by making reparations in his own community, rather than spending years in prison.

But District Attorney Nicholas Baxter (Tony Goldwyn) and Executive Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) felt the victim needed to be taken into account and shot down the possibility of Jacob getting away without prison time. Jacob ultimately pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for 15 years in prison.
