Battle lines have been drawn and continue to get more sharply defined on NBC’s hot new legal drama, Suits LA, which shot out of the gate with a series of betrayals, defections, and didn’t-see-that-coming twists.
We’ve already gotten the memo that hard-ball, high-powered attorney Ted Black (Stephen Amell), along with the other criminal and entertainment lawyers, are definitely dressed to kill – and they conduct business with a similar cutthroat edge. The same goes for their clients.
In last week’s third episode, titled “He Knew,” there was a yank-the-rug-out reveal involving Ted’s client Lester Thompson (Kevin Weisman), who’s been charged with murdering his business partner. It turns out that Lester’s wife, Valerie (Kristen Hager), was sleeping with the victim on the sly.
There’s more. Ted’s backbiting former partner Stuart Lane (Josh McDermott) has been made executor of Ted’s late father’s estate. It’s way too close for comfort. Meanwhile, the story flashed back to the past and the mystery surrounding Ted’s life and career as a prosecutor up against the mob in New York comes more into focus.

The excellent news is Suits LA returns with a new episode tonight at 9 p.m. ET, provocatively titled “Batman Returns.” Expect some questions to be answered and dramas to intensify.
A synopsis gives a broad strokes outline of what’s ahead. Ted and his colleague Erica (Lex Scott Davis) enlist ace entertainment lawyer Samantha (Rachelle Goulding) to save Lester’s movie, but the battle may hurt his murder trial. Rick (Bryan Greenberg) seeks Stuart’s help when a difficult actor is arrested.
In the past, Ted huddles with an old friend as the danger of going against a mob boss heats up. Also in the past, much to the delight of Suits fans, Gabriel Macht appears as Harvey Specter. A teaser shows that while Ted is sitting at the bar with his brother, Eddie (Carson A. Egan), Harvey introduces himself and orders them both some Macallan 25, as previously reported by NBC Insider.
