What's Happened to Hanako Greensmith's Character Violet Mikami on Chicago Fire?

Violet first appeared in Season 8, Episode 10 ("Hold Our Ground") of Chicago Fire, when Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) announced that Firehouse 51 would be sharing its territory with Firehouse 20 — where Violet was an EMT.

Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) told his colleagues that he was not a fan of hers.

"The medic over there is just the absolute worst," Gallo explained, referencing Violet. "We went through EMT training together at the Academy. Bad attitude, super competitive, always looking for an opportunity to fight."

However, she soon made allies in and ultimately made the shift to 51 in Season 9.

In Season 9, Episode 9 ("Double Red"), Violet ran into Gallo at the firehouse and told him that Chief Boden had asked her to come to his office. At the start of the next episode ("One Crazy Shift"), Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) joined Violet in Boden's office to ask Violet to join the paramedics at 51, albeit temporarily. 

Brett said that she had "personally requested" Violet as a partner when they needed to find a fill-in for Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae). That temporary position soon became permanent, and Violet has been on Chicago Fire since. 

In Season 12 of Chicago Fire, Violet began to explore romantic possibilities with Season 11 firefighter recruit Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), though they left things on an unclear note by its end.

Their relationship was initially a cat-and-mouse game until, in Episode 3 ("Trapped"), Violet admitted to her friend Brett that she had feelings for Carver, but she was afraid of falling for a firefighter. Despite these concerns, as soon as Carver called her out for her hot-and-cold behavior at Molly's, she kissed him, ultimately spending the night with him.

Violet then told her friend Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) that her hook-up with Carver was an amazing "one-night" situation... but the two continued to sneak around until Violet called for a time-out.

Then she asked Carver to be her date to Brett's wedding to Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) in Season 12, Episode 6 ("Port in the Storm"), and he agreed.

After a beautiful ceremony, Violet and Carver danced the night away. Eventually, though, Violet panicked about getting so comfortable, telling Carver that she wasn't sure she'd be able to cope with being in a relationship with someone whose job required him to put himself in harm's way. He, however, told her not to worry.

Thereafter, their feelings for one another deepened.

They had their first real argument in the Season 12 finale after Carver, triggered by a civilian's abusive behavior toward his son (that reminded him of his own childhood trauma), ended up in an altercation.

Unaware of the skeletons in Carver's closet, Violet convinced herself that the outburst was the result of Carver having feelings for Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and confronted him — which led him to get angry.

"You have thrown every excuse at me, done everything in your power to push me away, keep distance between us," Carver explained. "But it is not because of me or anything I did. It is because you can't let go of [your ex-boyfriend] Hawkins. You know I'm not in love with Kidd because I am stupid enough to have fallen in love with you."

Violet was rendered speechless by Carver's confession — and then, after their argument, Carver took a furlough from 51. She the went to his apartment to apologize, but he didn't answer, leaving her alone to mull over what her complicated feelings for Carver meant for her future.

Violent dated Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) in Seasons 10 and 11.

In Season 10, Episode 11, Hawkins gave Violet a Clinical Resuscitation Award for saving the newborn's life, after which it became clear that he was flirting with her. Violet approached him at the end of the episode to ask about the award: "It's not like you have feelings for me or anything like that, right?" she asked. Hawkins struggled to reply, then said, "I don't let personal issues affect my decision-making at work." He told Violet that they should try to stay away from each other, making it clear that he did, in fact, feelings for her. 

Hawkins finally kissed Violet at the end of Season 10, Episode 12 ("Show of Force"), after they both attended a charity gala. Their relationship continued to heat up, but not without drama: In Season 10, Episode 14 ("Keep You Safe"), Hawkins was given a formal warning for favoring Violet as her supervisor.

Hawkins made the decision to move away from Chicago so that his relationship with Violet would not be under the strain of their work setup.

Unfortunately, in Season 11, Episode 3 ("Completed Shattered") — just before he was due to leave town — Hawkins ran into a burning theater to save a victim just before the building crumbled on them both. He died from the accident despite Violet attempting to resuscitate him. Violet was devastated by the death.

Violet was promoted to Paramedic in Charge of Ambulance 61 in Season 12, Episode 6 ("Port in the Storm").

She was the go-to choice after  former PIC Brett left Firehouse 51 to start a new chapter, and Violet hit the ground running in Episode 7 ("Red Flag") — albeit not without having to first deal with a replacement paramedic who was their just to act as a rat.

Violet struggled to find a partner that she could trust in the ambulance until she met paramedic Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) — a vivacious, bubbly, and talkative new recruit. But the sardonic Violet respected Novak's skills in the ambo and preternatural talent for connecting with civilians. Throughout Season 12, Violet came to view Novak as both a partner and a dear friend at 51.

Violet and Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) started as rivals, began a short-lived relationship, broke up, and ultimately decided to be friends.

Fans discovered in Season 8, Episode 10 ("Hold Our Ground"), that the two shared an uncomfortable history and there was some residual tension.

But later in the episode, Violet and the team went to Molly's for drinks, where she immediately recited some EMT codes to Gallo.

"I'm gonna guess this is how overachievers flirt," Ritter remarked, watching them have a battle of wits. He was right: At the end of the episode, Violet and Gallo left Molly's together. They later agreed their hook-up was a "one-time thing."

However, in the next episode ("Where We End Up"), she woke up in Gallo's bed, and it became clear that they had slept together for a second time. "Once was fun, twice is the last time we do this," she told him. 

By the end of Season 8, Episode 20 ("51's Original Bell"), Gallo and Violet were officially an item — but they were in an open relationship. He later spotted her at Molly's when she was on her way to a date with another man, prompting jealousy from him, despite it being his idea to see other people.

That jealousy led them to break up before the end of Season 8. 

Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver) was Violet's temporary partner when Brett was away in Season 10.

She wanted to be a full-time paramedic on the Firehouse 51 team, and was clearly willing to do whatever it took to get the job — including backstabbing Violet. Emma began blackmailing Hawkins to try to force him to fire Violet, but Hawkins ultimately fired Emma from 51 when she froze in the line of duty in Season 10, Episode 22 (“The Magnificent City of Chicago”).

Emma's negativity outlasted Hawkins in the department, though, and she continued to harm members of Firehouse 51 until Violet brought her case to the IAD. Violet was originally told that she did not have enough proof of Emma's blackmail scheme, but she went through Hawkins' old things and found his video diary, which confirmed Violet's allegations against Emma.

Violet ultimately got Emma removed from the Chicago firefighting community entirely.
