There's always something new to dream big about at Universal Orlando Resort.

By Joe Dziemianowicz

New fun and thrills just keep coming at Universal Orlando Resort.

In advance of Universal’s Epic Universe theme park grand opening on May 22, 2025 – the day it joins Universal Studios, Universal Island of Adventure and Universal Volcano Bay – insiders encourage you to dream big about what awaits.

“There are already so many things in the works now,” said Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, in a video that’s sure to whet theme-park fans’ appetites.

“The entire resort has something new,” she added “We have a slate of new attractions that were already in development for every one of our parks”

Fresh developments are underway at Epic Universe, even before its launch. “We’re fired up by change,” said Steve Tatham, Executive Creative Director, Epic Universe.

According to Irwin, Epic Universe is going to be a “game-changer” in terms of how much time that people are going to want to spend there. It’s a place she added, “where they don't have to think about anything, but they get to feel everything.”

Visit Universal Orlando’s dream-come-true worlds

The premiere of Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe marks a significant expansion featuring five distinct immersive worlds with compelling storytelling experiences in each and every one.

“In 35 years, we’ve grown to a fully developed, integrated resort destination,” said Mark Woodbury, Chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations and Experiences.

Epic Universe, the latest addition to the American theme park lineup, joins Universal Studios, Universal Island of Adventure and Universal Volcano Bay, offering portals to five new and exciting worlds.

As of May 22, 2025, guests can experience the Ministry of Magic from the Wizarding World, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, Universal’s Dark Universe, and Celestial Park.

“This is a whole new kind of theme park. We’re creating these five immersive worlds, and each one of them an amazing, compelling storytelling experience,” said Steve Tatham, Executive Creative Director, Epic Universe.

What each part of the experience has in common is that it’s designed to maximize the fun, thrills and adventure. “It's taking things that we've done particularly well and making it even better, and then introducing new stories, new technology,” said Tatham. “We’re fired up by change.”

“We push every boundary possible,” said Brian Robinson, Chief Creative Officer Universal Creative. “You can be transported to a place that you’ve only dreamed [of]. There is such joy that something you have wished for your whole life or only dreamed of actually becomes a reality."
