In a game as cutthroat and backstabbing as The Traitors, it’s hard to say that anything a contest does is below the belt. And yet when Dylan Efron raised suspicions that Bob the Drag Queen was a Traitor in the fourth episode of the hit Peacock show’s third season, the RuPaul’s Drag Race star took a shot at a member of Dylan's family in return. However, as Dylan revealed in a recent interview, he didn’t take it personally and he still has “so much respect” for the now-ousted Traitor.

The heated moment came at the Round Table as Boston Rob Mariano (himself a Traitor) led the charge against Bob the Drag Queen. Dylan, an outdoorsman and content creator who also happens to be the younger brother of actor Zac Efron, also chimed in with doubts about Bob’s Faithful status.

“Bob is an amazing actor, I grew up with an actor,” Dylan said, unwittingly setting up Bob for a devastating clapback.

“Not a good one,” Bob quipped.

“Trust me, it was worse in person,” Dylan said of the moment in an interview with Teen Vogue. “It felt like that the entire time I was speaking with Bob [during the show]. He's just so quick-witted, and I'm an avoidant. I hate arguments. So I knew I was just stepping in hot water… I kind of teed him up for it. I gave him a softball and he hit a home run.”

However, despite the awkward moment at his brother’s expense, Dylan said he had nothing but respect for Bob the Drag Queen and his gameplay. Upon being voted out, Bob gave a fiery speech, which Dylan found impressive.

“That's why I love Bob. He easily could have just been pissed. He could have left, he could have just given up, but instead he doubled down until the very last second for us,” Dylan recalled. “He's just a showman. Everything rolls off his back. He has the thickest skin and he's just a professional. He's such a cool guy. I have so much respect for the people like my brother, anyone that puts themselves out there for the performance and acting, I adore. I think it's such a talent because I don't have that.”

For what it’s worth, Dylan isn’t sure if his brother, who became famous after breaking out in the 2006 movie High School Musical and has gone on to have a successful acting career despite Bob the Drag Queen’s biting assessment of his talents, has seen the episode. According to Dylan, Zac had watched the first three episodes so far by the time the interview was published; the big moment occurred in Episode 4.

Dylan Efron's potential secret weapon on The Traitors

Dylan said that growing up with a famous brother has given him some skills that should help him as this season of The Traitors moves forward.

“I definitely grew up in the spotlight more than more people would. I think people were always curious about Zac's family and stuff, and I opted to be pretty private because of that. I don't think I had social media until I was 26,” Dylan said. “I grew up in that scene going to Zac's premieres and seeing all Zac's friends and how people can not have your best interest in mind. It's just something I've been attuned to since I was a kid. I can't say that that's why I started so hot in the game or anything, but I think it's a skill that I just kind of got just from how I was raised.”

New episodes of The Traitors Season 3 premiere on Peacock on Thursdays at 9/8c, with the season finale and reunion premiering on March 6.

All episodes of Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream right now on Peacock.
