The new Night Court on NBC has a very special executive producer: Melissa Rauch's husband, Winston. Rauch and Winston met their freshman year at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. According to an interview Rauch gave with RogerEgbert.com in 2016, Winston came to watch a standup comedy set that Rauch was doing, and the two decided to become writing partners. The two then began dating before she hit it big and tied the knot in 2007. Winston changed his last name to Rauch when they got married.

“When you’re working with a person you love—this is going to sound so cheesy—there’s something about watching them do what they’re meant to do that is so gratifying,” Rauch told the outlet. “When we started writing together, we were in an apartment that was half the size of this [hotel] room. That was a great training ground for our relationship. If we could figure out a script together in these close quarters and not kill each other, then we’re golden, we’re OK, at least for now.”

In a 2014 interview with New Jersey Monthly, Rauch also gushed about her relationship with her husband. "I am very fortunate that I met my husband in college. He is my best friend and the love of my life, in addition to being an incredible writing partner. The only thing I regret is not meeting him even sooner, as my life has just gotten better since he came into it," she said.

Their writing partnership had proven to be a success. They wrote a 2015 film called The Bronze together, which is about a former Olympic gymnast who is attempting to make a comeback to the sport, only to get outshined by a younger competitor. Another project that Winston worked on was a 2009 flick called The Condom Killer, about a man named Condom who goes on a killing spree in Los Angeles.
