Elvis Presley Sang This Iconic Dolly Parton Song to Priscilla After They Got Divorced
Presley was a huge fan of this hit song written by Parton.
In an August interview with BBC Radio, Dolly Parton revealed a surprising connection that she had with Elvis Presley.
According to Parton, The King was a massive fan of her 1974 hit "I Will Always Love You."
"Elvis loved the song," Parton said. "In fact, I talked to Priscilla [Presley, Elvis' ex-wife] not very long ago, and she said 'You know, Elvis sang that song to me when we were walking down the courthouse steps when we got divorced. He was singing to me, I will always love you.'"
The admiration is mutual, as Parton even wrote a song around 20 years ago inspired by Elvis Presley. "I wrote a song called 'I Dreamed About Elvis,'" she revealed. That tune will be featured on Parton's upcoming rock-and-roll album, Rockstar, which drops November 17.

"I dreamed that Elvis was singing the song 'I Will Always Love You,' so I wrote a whole song about Elvis," Parton elaborated.

Rockstar will feature 30 covers of classic rock-and-roll songs. Miley Cyrus, Pink, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Melissa Etheridge, Sting, Peter Frampton, Joan Jett, Ann Wilson, Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Debbie Harry, Sheryl Crow, Pat Benatar, and others are featured on the project.
“If I’m gonna be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m gonna have to do something to earn it. So I’m doing a rock-and roll-album, and I’m having a lot of the rock stars that I met that night be on the album with me,” Parton explained while on The View.
