Pete Davidson's Bupkis Renewed for Season 2 on Peacock

Pete Davidson’s semi-autobiographical Peacock original series Bupkis has concluded its first season and, ironically, he has anything but bupkis to show for it. The streamer announced that Pete and his family will officially be back for a second season. 

Although it does not yet have a release date, fans can look forward to more antics from Davidson as well as his on-screen family including his mother, played by Edie Falco, and his grandfather, played by Joe Pesci. Season 1 captivated audiences with its exaggerated look at Davidson’s life in the spotlight and Season 2 looks to do the same with a slew of guest stars both returning and likely new.

“Pete Davidson is a once-in-a-generation talent, and what he created with the first season of Bupkis absolutely blew us away,” said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming in a press release. “Pete has the rare ability to make you laugh out loud with his unfiltered brand of comedy, and then tear up with his raw and honest vulnerability. We could not be more proud to continue on this journey with Pete, Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video, and our partners at Universal Television for a second season as we continue to bolster Peacock’s comedy slate.” 

Like the first season, Pete will continue to star in and write the series from executive producer Lorne Michaels. In season one, they were joined by Judah Miller and Dave Sirus alongside executive producers Andrew Singer and Erin David. Jason Orley directed and co-executive produced. 

“Pete, Lorne and the entire Bupkis team took audiences on a wild and emotionally captivating adventure in Season 1; from family weddings to drug-fueled road trips to lonely holidays on set, these authentic, outrageous, and emotionally candid escapades gave viewers the good, the bad, and the real that comes with stardom,” added Erin Underhill, President, Universal Television. “We are grateful to Peacock for their support, and can’t wait to once again climb inside the creative mind of Pete Davidson for Season 2.” 

News of a renewal likely comes as good news to fans given that Season 1 concluded with Pete’s character in a precarious situation. Fortunately, all the minds behind the critically acclaimed first entry in the series are going to be hard at work resolving that issue. Or, more likely in Pete’s case, burying it under a host of new problems.
