Jenna Bush Hager’s White House Secret Service Code Name Was So Hilarious & Cute
The TODAY co-anchor said she took her funny nickname as a "compliment."
From 2001 to 2009, TODAY’s Jenna Bush Hager lived inside the White House during her father George W. Bush’s two terms as President of the United States. And as fans could probably expect, Hager has a story or two to tell about her time there.
In a 2020 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Hager dished on some Washington, D.C. secrets — including her Secret Service code name.
Every person under the watchful eye of the Secret Service is given a code name that is used over radio frequencies to protect their identity, and Hager was no different. In fact, she had the cutest code name.
“My code name was Twinkle,” she told Andy Cohen. “I take that as a compliment.”
Hilariously enough, the secret code name came up again during a visit to the White House later in her life — this time in front of her current colleagues.
“When we went back to the White House with the TODAY show peeps, we walked in and they were like, ‘Twinkle, welcome home,’ and everybody was like, ‘Twinkle?’” Hager recalled.
Hager wasn’t the only family member with an adorable Secret Service nickname. Her twin sister, Barbara, was nicknamed Turquoise.

During the chat, Cohen asked Hager about everything from potential Secret Service crushes (“There was one that was very handsome, and I didn’t crush on him, but a best friend did”) to if she ever accidentally destroyed anything in the Oval Office. (“Not in the Oval Office, but upstairs in the house, yes, I stained something.")
