Ice T Wants This SVU Villain — Played by a Famous Rapper — to Come Back
Ice T recalled this Law & Order: SVU performance — from a fellow hip-hop legend — fondly in an interview with NBC Insider.
Ice T (Detective Fin Tutuola) may be a series regular on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but he isn't the only hip-hop legend who's appeared on the show.
Ludacris actually guest-starred in two episodes of SVU in 2006 and 2007. His first appearance was Season 7, Episode 18 ("Venom"), and he later reprised his role in Season 8, Episode 22 ("Screwed"). He played Darius Parker, Fin's nephew. Darius was put on trial for the rape and murder of a woman, and Fin's ex-wife was later forced to reveal that Darius is actually her son.
Ludacris' appearance on the show was so memorable, Ice T would like to see him return. "Have Ludacris come back," Ice T told NBC Insider after his wife, Coco Austin, reminded him how much he liked his performance.

Ice T expressed similar sentiments in a recent interview with Billboard.
“I had a good time with [Ludacris],” he recalled to the outlet. “He actually got to play through his own day in court; he defended himself, which was kind of cool.”

Ice T rose to fame in the '80s with his hip-hop music, releasing his debut album Rhyme Pays in 1987. He then went on to release seven other rap albums: Power; The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say; O.G. Original Gangster; Home Invasion; Ice-T VI: Return of the Real; The Seventh Deadly Sin; and Gangsta Rap.
Ice T later formed the heavy metal band Body Count in 1990. They're currently performing today.
He joined the cast of SVU in 2000 and has established a name for himself as an actor ever since.
“The one thing about Dick Wolf [productions] is they understand how musicians translate into acting — they have no fear of that. I think Dick Wolf’s theory is, ‘If you could be a star at something, you could be a star at anything,'” Ice T said to Billboard.

He also spoke to People in 2023 about how far he's come with his television career.
"Acting was an opportunity that very few people get, and I couldn't turn down that opportunity," he told the outlet. "If you really look at hip-hop and see how many thousands of rappers there are, there are still only about 10 rappers who have pulled off acting."
