Dancing With...Camille Kostek
The Dancing With Myself Host answers all our burning dance questions.
Camille Kostek knows a thing or two about dancing. The Connecticut native started ballet lessons when she was just 3 years old. Eventually, she trained at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, and down the line became a professional cheerleader for the United Football League's Hartford Colonials. This led to her scoring a spot as a cheerleader for the New England Patriots, where her career really took off. Now, Kostek is an accomplished model and Host, with emcee credits including South by Southwest and the NHL.
And now, Dancing With Myself, NBC's new dance competition show inspired by social media's viral dance revolution. Hosting this show is the perfect gig for Kostek, as it blends all her favorite things. "It was a no-hesitation situation for me," Kostek tells NBC Insider about her decision to host Dancing With Myself. "...I know that dance has shaped my world in a whole new way. There’s been times when I’ve been down and out or dealing with anxieties, and dance has been my escape."
With that spirit in mind, we got the tea from Kostek on all her dance go-tos, from the best song to dance to in the car to what her favorite songs are from Dancing With Myself Creators Shakira, Nick Jonas, and Liza Koshy. Read on.
NBC Insider: What is the best song to dance to in your car?
Camille Kostek: "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5.
What is the best song to dance to in the club?
"Level Up," Ciara.
What is the best song to dance to at a wedding?
I feel like I’m going to go for a throwback, a classic like "Electric Slide." It gets everybody on the floor, all ages; everyone knows it. Also, "I Want to Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston.
What are three songs that must make your pump-up dance playlist?
I’m a huge Kygo fan. All songs Kygo get me excited and get me up and dancing. Number two I would say is "Kill the Lights" by Alex Newell, DJ Cassidy, and Nile Rodgers. And then "Splinters" by Shal Marshall.
What Shakira song is your favorite to dance to?
"Hips Don’t Lie" has always been my favorite, and I love to shake my hips!
How about your favorite Nick Jonas or Jonas Brothers song?
"Lovebug" by the Jonas Brothers is mine and my siblings' favorite.
If you were going out dancing with Liza Koshy, what song would you request to the DJ?
I would make her do her own songs! She’s constantly making up her own songs and her own beats on set.
What is the one song you could dance to every day for the rest of your life and never get tired of?
What’s the song Kygo remixed with Whitney Houston? "Higher Love!" It’s actually my most-played song for the last two years.
