Dance Crew Jabbawockeez Has Been on the Move Since Inspiring "Love" on AGT — Where They Are Now
Before finding fame, Jabbawockeez said that AGTwas a major oppportunity "to reach out into America." They were right.
They’re stars in a rarefied who’s who of dance crews, but you may not know their breakout showcase was on America’s Got Talent.
In 2007, the hip-hop dance troupe Jabbawockeez stepped up and impressed the Season 2 AGT Judges with their distinct moves and athleticism, prompting one Judge to proclaim, "The audience loves you."
That love story continues today for the high-flying — and very busy — dancers.
What to know about Jabbawockeez
The crew got its name from Lewis Carroll’s 1870s poem, Jabberwocky, according to the troupe’s website. The poem appears in Through the Looking-Glass, and just as the verse summons a dreamscape, Jabbawockeez told AGT that “we are a figment of your imagination.” Their moves get the mind buzzing.
Jabbawockeez’s roots reach back to 2003 in San Diego, where the group was established by Joe Larot, Kevin Brewer, and Phil Tayag, per the group's bio. Driven by a desire to “inspire the world through music and dance,” the dancers started out in performing in local showcases and clubs, and earned recognition along the way.

The group’s style is a magnetic mix of synchronized choreography and freestyle moves.
“Each member brings a different technique and perspective to form the original style,” the bio reads.
The dancers’ signature white masks and gloves are an essential element of the group dynamic.
What happened to Jabbawockeez on AGT?
In 2007, Jabbawockeez’s nine members hit the AGT Season 2 stage in blue pants and gray tops and those white masks and gloves.
“This competition is important to us because it gives us an opportunity to reach out into America,” they said.
The performance got good reviews from the Judges' panel, and in the end, three “Yes” votes advanced the crew to the Las Vegas Round. But that’s where Jabbawockeez's AGT journey ended, as they failed to advance any further.
But Jabbawockeez was just getting started. The group parlayed AGT into a 2008 win on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. From there, they've performed at talk shows, awards shows, sporting events, and beyond. In 2010, they even became the first dance crew to headline their own show in Las Vegas, according to the group's bio.
Recently, in 2020, Jabbawockeez returned for Season 15 of AGT for a super synchronized dance to “Bare Wit Me” by Teyana Taylor.
Where is the Jabbawockeez group today?
With 5.7M Facebook followers, 2.8 Instagram followers, and 5.5M subscribers to its official YouTube channel, Jabbawockeez has a massive fanbase that’s keen on being in step with the group's next move and groove.
Jabbawockeez has been busier than ever this year. They’re “special guests’ with Rauw Alejandro as part of the singer and songwriter’s 2023 “Saturno” world tour. Performing to songs by Ivy Queen, Bad Bunny, Kanye West ,and Jay Z, Jabbawockeez “provided a dance breakdown that served as the halftime intermission,” noted a Houston Press review.
Jabbawockeez is also now on stage at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in their show “Timeless.”
That’s a fitting name for a show by a dance crew that shows no signs of stopping any time soon.
