What Parijita Bastola Has Been Up to Since The Voice Season 22 Ended
There's no question the 17-year-old has a bright future.
If her Four-Chair Turn Blind Audition made anything clear, it was that Parijita Bastola would make if far on The Voice Season 22.
The 17-year-old displayed a talent beyond her years when she sang Labrinth's "Jealous" and ultimately chose Team Legend. She'd continue to standout with powerhouse performances throughout the competition, from the Battle Round when she beat out the The Marilynds, to her winning rendition of Etta James' 1968 soul classic, "I'd Rather Go Blind" in the Knockouts.
The Severna Park, MD native also made history as the show's first Nepali American Contestant, and she proudly repped her culture throughout the season .
"Nepal's not a country that most people know about, and there's not much Nepalese representation on TV or in media," Bastola told People in November. "So I think it's super cool that I'm able to talk about my family and the clothes that I wear on the show. It's allowing me to be myself, and in doing so, I'm able to teach a lot of Americans about my culture and what I'm about."
Unfortunately, Bastola was eliminated in the Top 8 following a shocking Live Results Show and what Legend called a "gorgeous, beautiful" Last-Chance performance of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love."
So what's in store for the teen following her run on The Voice? Read, below, to find out.
Where is Parijita Bastola now after The Voice Season 22?
Following her elimination, Bastola took to Instagram to reflect on her time on the show and tease what's next for her. "I am so proud of myself," she said, Top 8 is what I had imagined and more! Having to sing for the Instant is a unexplainable terrifying moment, but right before I started singing 'Make You Feel My Love,' I saw every version of myself on the show, I remembered the people I love and met."
She continued in a separate post, "I hope you all are ready for the real show (my future career)."
Right now, it seems Bastola is taking some time to be just a regular teen. In a December 19 Instagram Story, she revealed she was "catching myself up with school and my life" during the holiday break. She's also still keeping in touch with many former cast members from Season 22 (whom she calls her "best friends"), including Kiqué, bodie, Rowan Grace, and more.
She and Kiqué are even collaborating for a special concert on December 30 to help ring-in the New Year.
We'll be keeping an eye out for Bastola on those Billboard charts!
