Where Is Dermot Mulroney's Chief Pascal on Chicago Fire? (February 26, 2025)

Chicago Fire's dutiful new chief must have been gone in the latest episode for a good reason.

By Jessica White

All eyes have been on Chicago Fire newcomer Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) as he settles in at the helm of Firehouse 51.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock

Pascal has been a solid addition to the firehouse, throwing himself into action whenever needed, expertly calling the shots during fiery rescue missions, and (slowly but surely) opening up more around his fearless crew. With his grit and years of experience, Pascal has become an honorable new leader, so viewers quickly noticed his absence during Chicago Fire's latest (Season 13, Episode 14: "Bar Time"). Pascal expects nothing but the highest performance from his station, so as soon as he didn't show up for work, Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) started asking questions.

Here's why Pascal was M.I.A. during the February 26, 2025 episode of Chicago Fire

Where was Chief Dom Pascal on Chicago Fire this week? February 26, 2025

Pascal was missing from Season 13's "Bar Time" due to being away on a CFD assignment.

After arriving for the shift, Stella was quickly thrown off by two strange updates. First, Pascal was gone. Second, Herrmann (David Eigenberg) was in Pascal's office, seemingly losing his mind. Standing at Pascal's desk, Herrmann was a tornado of befuddlement and confusion, unsure of where to begin amid the massive pile of files in front of him.

"What's going on in there?" Stella asked Herrmann's best friend, Mouch McHolland (Christian Stolte).

"You know how Squad is over at 67 to help cover the hotel protests?" Mouch reminded her.

"Yes," Stella nodded.

"Pascal was put on the same assignment," Mouch revealed. "So he tasked Herrmann with a massive pile of chief-level training records and incident reports."

Once Herrmann realized they were eavesdropping, he redirected his frustration toward Stella and Mouch. After all, he can pull rank at any time now.

"What are you looking at, huh?" Herrmann snapped at them, seconds from bursting. "I'm handling this fine!"

So worry not, Chi-Hards: Pascal will be back soon to check on Herrmann's performance as his substitute.

"This entire experience on Chicago Fire is brand new for me. I'm also joining a cast that's already here. So I'm really the new guy in a brand new experience," Mulroney said in a 2024 NBC Insider interview. "I've never played a part that will last this long... I'm having the most amazing time in a new process. [I've been acting] a long time—it's so nice to have a new way to look at creating a role, originating a role."
