What Is AGT Winner Darci Lynne Doing Now? All About Her Recent Musical Success
The singing ventriloquist and recent high school graduate regularly shares her music on social media.
America’s Got Talent fans are still reeling from child star Darci Lynne, who won America over with her multi-talented acts. Six years since the tween was crowned the Season 12 winner, the ventriloquist, comedienne, and singer shows no signs of stopping, taking her songwriting and singing on the road.
Who is Darci Lynne?
Darci Lynne Farmer was the giggly 12-year-old girl who came to the AGT stage in 2017, fusing ventriloquism with comedy and song and going on to win the show’s coveted Golden Buzzer. Equipped with her pink puppet, Petunia, the Oklahoma City native blew the Judges away by belting the Gershwin classic “Summertime.”
AGT Judge Simon Cowell later told Host Terry Crews that Darci Lynne’s well-deserved Golden Buzzer was one of his favorites in the show’s history.

“Honestly, I did think, on the day, ‘That wasn’t her singing’” Cowell admitted. “Because I said, ‘It’s impossible to sing without opening your mouth.’”
Lynne has been widely credited for bringing ventriloquism back into the spotlight after decades of fluctuating popularity.
Lynne’s adorable and wholesome acts helped her rank in the AGT competition, eventually beating singer Angelica Hale and dance troupe Light Balance for the win.
Lynne’s success only grew after her AGT win, which got her the series’ $1 million prize and a headlining spot at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. She has been a recurring guest at the famed Grand Ole Opry, starred on NBC’s 2018 holiday special, Darci Lynne: My Hometown Christmas, and was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Food Network’s Kids Baking Championship, and many more.
Two years after her Season 12 victory, Lynne placed second on AGT: The Champions.
What is Darci Lynne doing now?
The now-18-year-old singer and recent high school graduate continues her success, taking her music on the road. Recently, she headlined the Heard on Hurd music festival in Edmond, Oklahoma — just outside Oklahoma City — and was cited as a “smashing success.”
And if ventriloquism, singing, and comedy weren’t enough, Lynne is also homing in on her guitar-playing skills.
“What a night,” the teen wrote on her Instagram page, which shows Darci rocking out on a six-string. “What a blessing music is, and it was a blast sharing it with you all.”
It seems there’s nothing Lynne can’t do, as she also appeared in the 2022 Netflix film A Cowgirl’s Song, which tells the story of an aspiring country singer trying to earn bail money after her father is wrongfully arrested.
Lynne wrote the song “Just Breathe” for the movie, which she sang with The Imaginaries.
Lynne’s Instagram page shows an array of live performances, including a cover of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” in front of the Oklahoma City skyline and a concert in Iowa as part of her My Lips Are Sealed (Except When They’re Not) tour, which concluded in late 2022.
Lynne announced in May that she’s taking her music back on the road once again, performing at the Benton Franklin Fair in Kennewick, Washington, on August 25, 2023.

The happy teen regularly posts TikTok videos of band practice and gigs to her nearly 5 million followers. There, fans can find videos typical of a teenage girl, such as Lynne singing Guns N’ Roses into a hairbrush before gym class and an original composition with Lynne giving an acoustic performance about not wanting to go to school.
Does Darci Lynne still do ventriloquism?
You’ll be happy to hear that, yes, Lynne doesn’t go far without her trusted companion, Petunia. In March 2023, she entertained the idea of starting a rock band while performing with the Long Island-based rock band AMH (Adam and the Metal Hawks). Lynne’s now-famous puppet, Petunia, gave an exceptional performance of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive.”
Here’s hoping Darci Lynne adds more stops to her tour, hopefully with Petunia by her side.
Watch as the competition continues on America’s Got Talent, airing Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and Peacock.
