What Awards Has The Voice's Reba McEntire Won?

This year, NBC's The Voice will get a dose of country music royalty when the legendary Reba McEntire joins the show as the fourth coach for Season 24, alongside Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Niall Horan.

Even for a show like The Voice, which has seen its fair share of musical icons in the coaching chairs over the years, McEntire is a huge name, a legend not just in her chosen genre but in pop music as a whole. She brings decades of experience, acclaim, and of course, awards to The Voice stage. 

And when we say awards, we mean it. In a career spanning nearly five decades since the release of her first studio album, McEntire has won dozens of honors for her achievements as a vocalist, from Grammys to Academy of Country Music Awards to a Kennedy Center Honor, and just about everything in between. Grammy Awards

Often billed as "Music's Biggest Night," the Grammy Awards annually highlight outstanding achievements in music across genres, and in her long career McEntire has been nominated by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences a total of 17 times, winning three awards. In 1987, she garnered Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her hit single "Whoever's in New England"; in 1994 she garnered Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for "Does He Love You," her duet with Linda Davis; and in 2018 her album Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope won Best Roots Gospel Album. 

Academy of Country Music Awards

Established in 1964, the ACM is among the oldest and most prestigious award bodies honoring country music and its artists, and that means McEntire has been a regular fixture at their awards ceremonies for decades. She kicked off a string of wins in 1984 with an award for Top New Female Vocalist, which she would go on to win again in 1985 and 1986. Then came the wins for Top Female Vocalist, which she'd earn in 1987, 1990, 1991, and 1994. All those wins eventually earned her special awards for the most Female Vocalist wins of any artist in 2005, but that's not the end of her ACM story. Over the years, McEntire has also won Country Music Video of the Year ("Whoever's in New England," 1986), Video of the Year ("Is There Life Out There," 1991, and "Forever Country," 2016), and Entertainer of the Year (1994). She's also received numerous special awards from the ACM, including the Leading Lady Award, the Home Depot Humanitarian Award, the Mae Boren Axton Award, and the 50th Anniversary Milestone Award.

Country Music Association Awards

Like the ACM, the CMA has been around for decades, giving out honors to country's biggest artists, which of course means McEntire. She's the first woman in the organization's history to win Female Vocalist of the Year four consecutive times, earning the award in 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1987. She also landed Entertainer of the Year honors from the CMA in 1986, and earned Vocal Event of the Year honors for "Does He Love You" (with Linda Davis) in 1994. She was honored with the organization's International Artist Achievement Award in 2000, and was inducted into the CMA Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011.

American Music Awards

McEntire has been a favorite at the AMAs since 1987, when she won Favorite Female Country Video Artist for "Whoever's in New England." She then went on an incredible run in the group's Favorite Female Country Artist category, winning the award eight consecutive times from 1988 through 1995, with another two wins in 1998 and 2004. She's also won Favorite Country Album three times, with Reba Live in 1991, For My Broken Heart in 1993, and Read My Mind in 1995.

Other Honors

On top of her many, many awards from the Grammys, the ACMs, the CMAs, and the AMAs, McEntire has dozens of other honors to her name. In 1986, she was granted one of country music's highest honors with induction into the Grand Ole Opry; in 2007 she was named Billboard Magazine's Woman of the Year; in 2012 she was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame; and in 2018 she received a Kennedy Center Honor for her contributions to American performing arts and culture. She's also won nine People's Choice Awards (including one for acting in her sitcom, Reba) and two Billboard Music Awards. And in 2011, she was voted Number One on Country Music Television's 20 Greatest Women list.
