See Why Simon Cowell Says Aidan Bryant Is One of AGT's 'Most Talented Contestants'
The former runner-up had one goal when returning for "AGT: All-Stars."
Aidan Bryant had one goal when he returned to the stage for America’s Got Talent: All-Stars: Beat Dustin Tavella.
The 17-year-old aerialist made it all the way to the Top 2 during the AGT Season 16 Finale. But in the end, he lost the $1 million grand prize to victor and master magician Tavella. The moment was heartbreaking for Bryant.
“I remember talking to him that night," executive producer Simon Cowell recalled to his fellow Judges. "He was in pieces."
The friendly rivalry was renewed yet again during AGT: All-Stars when both Tavella and Bryant auditioned back-to-back in the second round of try-outs. With just two spots to the Final up for grabs during the episode, the teen didn't want a repeat of his last AGT experience.
“When I heard about All-Stars, I knew I had to take the chance and really prove myself to America," he said. "And the fact that I have to compete against Dustin again adds so much pressure, and I know I cannot lose to him again. I’ve been working so hard to come back strong and better than ever.”
His dangerous, gravity-defying aerial routine had the Judges and fans on the edge of their seats. But by the end of his performance, it was clear that his exhilarating display would be tough to beat.
“I’m gonna be totally honest with you, I am not a fan of single-person aerial Acts," Howie Mandel said. "I’m not. I have to say with that being said, what you performed tonight seemed to be scarier and more dangerous, and this was definitely much better than anything I have seen you do before.”
Cowell added, “I remember I watched Aidan’s face when the winner [in Season 16] was announced, and I've never seen anyone look more gutted in my life. And I remember going up to you afterwards and saying, 'I promise you this is not the end.' I think you’re one of the most talented contestants we’ve ever had...That was a 10.”
By the end of the night, Bryant's goal was met when the Superfans voted him into the Final alongside Terry Crews' Golden Buzzer, the Detroit Youth Choir.
Bryant officially has another chance to make all of his AGT dreams come true.
