Blake Shelton Said This Was the Hardest Decision He's Ever Made as a Voice Coach

We feel his pain!

Hilarious Behind-the-Scenes Moments from Battles and Knockouts | NBC's The Voice 2022

The Voice Knockout rounds were extremely competitive this year, as we saw some amazingly talented singers sadly go home. Season 22 marked the debut of the new three-way Knockout system, where three Acts were grouped together and performed songs of their choosing. In the end, only one was picked to advance to Live Shows.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

“Well, this is the first three-way Knockout that I’ve personally been a part of, and I’ve been here for 22 seasons. And it is the hardest decisions that I’ve ever had to make as a Coach on here. Sucked!” Blake Shelton confessed in the behind-the-scenes clip, above.

Just to give you a reminder of how hard Shelton’s Knockouts were: One team consisted of Jay Allen, Bryce Leatherwood, and Kate Kalvach, who sang “Prayed for You” by Matt Stell, “Colder Weather” by the Zac Brown Band, and “Anyone” by Justin Bieber, respectively. Ultimately, Bryce Leatherwood ended up coming out on top for that Knockout.

And who can forget when bodie, Kevin Hawkins, and The Dryes sang “Better Now” by Post Malone, “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush, and “Chasing After You” by Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, respectively? This particular round was so mind-blowing and difficult that Shelton jokingly said the decision was going to make him quit the show. However, bodie was eventually declared the winner of the Knockout.

To see which Artists excel during the Live Shows, watch The Voice on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock.
