How Grace Bello's 'Angelic,' 'Tender' Voice Earned Her a 4-Chair Turn
She did a haunting rendition of Justin Bieber's "Ghost."
For her Blind Audition on The Voice Season 22, Episode 6, Grace Bello did a haunting rendition of Justin Bieber's "Ghost." She slowed down the synth-pop track and made it more visceral and emotional. While speaking to the show, Bello noted that she likes finding the emotion in upbeat pop songs, and her Blind Audition was a shining example of that.
And Camila Cabello noticed. And Gwen Stefani. And Blake Shelton. And John Legend. Yes, the 21-year-old singer earned a coveted Four-Chair turn, and the accolade was rightfully deserved.
"It was amazing," Legend said. "Because so many times we'll get singers with these big, huge voices on the show, and they do really well. But we also have had those singers who are way more subtle...I heard that in you, as well. You have so much control, and your tone is so beautiful."
The accolades kept on coming. "It's really rare that somebody will show that many sides of their voice or that they even have that many sides to their voice," Stefani told Bello. "You were able to get tender with your voice and really listen to the lyrics of what you're saying, and that's also rare for someone so young. I think you would fit in really, really good on Team Gwen."
Ultimately, though, Bello chose Team Camila. "Grace. Her voice did have a really angelic quality to it," Cabello said. "It reminded me of Ariana [Grande] at times. I want that musical diversity on my team."
