Why Bryce Leatherwood Cried After His 'George Strait'-Level Battle
The 22-year-old singer got emotional!
The Voice Season 22, Episode 12 (airing October 25th) ended on a phenomenal note. Bryce Leatherwood and country-music duo The Dryes, both on Blake Shelton's team, faced off in a Battle. The challenge? “Red Dirt Road” by Brooks & Dunn, and they both knocked it out of the park.
"You guys all have different strengths," Camila Cabello told the Artists. "[The Dryes], your harmonies were really tight, you guys hit every note. But Mr. Leatherwood really shined for me. I felt more at ease hearing and watching him. There was a calm confidence. For whatever reason, I resonated with Bryce more on this performance, but I think [The Dryes] are also really talented."
Gwen Stefani echoed this, saying, "When Mr. Leatherwood came in, your voice is so warm." And John Legend told Leatherwood. "Bryce, your voice is so pure and warm. You just execute everything with precision and confidence and ease."
Ultimately, Shelton picked Leatherwood as the winner of the Battle, explaining, "You're 22 years old, and I don't know how much experience you have on stage. It seems like you've got about 40 years of experience...You're one of those guys that's like a George Strait. You deliver and you're solid and people react to that."
All the love got Leatherwood emotional, and he said backstage after winning the Battle, "I'm just happy Blake saw the light in me. I'm ready to go; let's do this thing. I'm sorry, I'm crying, man. I'll cry at weddings!"
And we'll cry watching him on The Voice. To see what happens, tune in to NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock.
